Bama's top opponents compare with Okie State's top opponents and their loss supercedes OSU's. Remember Okie State didn't have to play in a conference championship either. All they had to do was beat Iowa State and OU. And sure the conference championship means something, but the BCS's job is to put the top 2 teams in the national championship game, which they did.
Okay, last time I had this argument was before the OU game, so now Okie State has the better wins. You still haven't addressed the loss...at all. Timing of losses matter. Had OSU lost earlier, they probably would have been okay. The Iowa State loss was still fresh in the minds of the voters and I bet it was the deciding factor in choosing who got it. So please don't say that the losses don't matter like I've heard so many times before.
Because OU was so far ahead of everyone else. Just like how we were so ahead of everyone else going into the SECCG. Michigan losing to Ohio State in 06 hurt them because it was the last game of the year. Likewise, Oklahoma State lost in the 2nd last game of the year and it had no room for failure because Bama was sneaking up on them.
If the computers are rational and logical, and they have OKST number two, why don't we just accept that it was the irrational human voters who allowed the rematch. OKST was the champion of one of the two best conferences, and they proved that they got a raw deal by beating Stanford. They only way the BCS saves face is by LSU winning. LSU will win, and the BCS will say, "see, we had it right all along, there is one undefeated team and they won the BCSNCG."
They should have matched up the 7 teams bama and osu beat in conference this year and whichever conference won 4 would get their pretender in to face LSU. After watching so many bowl games the past few years I have a feeling Bama would still have made the game. And that is with the SEC playing up one notch.
With the current system in place, which is designed with the sole intention of pitting the best two teams against each other, I can't figure out why people are still arguing this. #1)LSU #2)Bama #3)OSU---maybe.
After watching these bowl games unfold the BCS got it right. None of them could hang with LSU or Alabama. Much as I hate them ****ers, it's the right call.
Exactly my reason for saying that. These track meets are a joke. Either LSU and Bama would destroy OSU, UO, Stanford, et al...
