Boy, I've already had this conversation once tonight. And don't think I'm trying to pump the sunshine here. But you say,"he should have finished him...." I think he tried, harder than we've seen in quite a few similar games in recent years. But our average starting field position in the second half was the 14 yard line, but he still let Etling chuck it around. A holding penalty erased a first down that led to a punt on one. Fournette fumbled it away at midfeild on another, and another fumble combined with a major penalty killed a beautiful 13-play, 65 yard drive that ate up 7:00 of the 4th quarter. Of course the drive started at the 1-yard line. I don't think he coached a flawless game; I thought the reverses in the 1st quarter were just stupid, and we already talked about the clock management of the end of the second half; could have been better, but we've seen far, far worse, and that's really the point. No, we couldn't put them away and that was frustrating. But it wasn't like when we blew 4th quarter leads against Bama and Ole Miss a couple of years ago. We didn't go into a shell tonight. "Les had his shot"....I get it; you're done with him. I'm with you, though an SEC championship might change my mind. But I'm still not going to watching these games through a pair of "fuck Miles" glasses.
i said i agreed fully. i was talking first half. our coach has to learn before our team can is all im saying. he needs to take bigger steps before hes run out of here. his unmanned clock is ticking. eta: and this mentality from much of the fan base is much of his doing. so this objective route im down with but doesnt cover the true scope of the discussion for one game. he has much to prove to the fans as well as his team.
I agree with you. That Ed Cunningham is irritating. If he's that smart, why isn't he coaching? It's like STFU and call the game, dickhead! I agree we have our toughest games ahead, but at least we appear to be moving in the right direction as we head towards the meat of the schedule...
This is pretty much my view also. As long as he's the head coach, we might as well give him a shot. If you've already made up your mind before the game starts, why watch it?
We won. A lot of good points have been made. When all is said and done, we started out strong, but fizzled. Again. We seem to lack either the plays or the will to call them, that consistently keep things alive. Inverse bell curve. Either predictable, or stupid. The shovel pass in first quarter is what we need to do for 60 minutes. Yep, Les can't stop fumbles, but he is instrumental in sustaining drives when he needs , make that, has to. And, I think we can all burn our DBU tee shirts along with thos God Awful unis. Just too many critical receptions and too many non interceptions.
I think the announcers said that Fitzgerald couldnt find his helmet, and thats why Mullin originally put in the backup. Then he just left him in after some success.
I enjoy a good gadget play. But do you need to use them all at home against Mississippi State? Save a few of them for bigger spots.
I enjoy when LSU completes a pass to a receiver and I yell...."who the hell is that kid? Never heard oh him! First down!"
