im just asking this question think i already know the answer.. Did LSU try to recruit Terelle Pryor just asking i think he will sign with michigan now that RR left WV to coach there..Also just your thoughts on our ability to recruit nationally i know we got barksdale out of michigan last year but what do u think of our ability to recruit truly the entire country i know we usually dont have to.......and we have been recruiting florida well
LSU was in Pryor's Top 11 or 12 whatever it was before the season started, so obviously LSU did some recruiting. I don't think LSU was ever really a serious player in his recruiting at some point like say EJ Manuel.
I was just asking....was wondering if we went after a guy like him with everything we got are do we just throw our letter in the pile and see if we get a bite if we do good if not do we just say oh well we tried
They recruited him for awhile and I am sure LSU is still keeping tabs on him but coaches have to sort through the likely and unlikely recruits all the time. LSU's recruiting staff is one of the best in the nation and I am sure TP knew he would have to sit awhile if he came here. I think he is going to tOSU. However, UM has a great shot at landing him with RR taking over. It all depends on what RR is saying about Mallet and if he has a shot at passing Mallet on the depth chart. TP fits RR's system better than Mallet.
I think we lightly recruited him, but never heavily. It's an effort-reward issue. How much is it worth to spend so much time recruiting a guy like Pryor, when the chances are very slim that we land him. We send letters to prospects around the country, but if they don't have some interest in us, then we don't persue them. The chances are just not very good that we'll get a prospect like that to come down to Louisiana. It's not like we're California or Florida where our state creates some interest on it's own. USC, Tennessee, Ohio St. How many programs really recruit nationally? Not many. LSU is getting better. We're developing pipe lines into certain areas. We were/are in on a couple of prospects from California & Ohio (and deeper into Florida & Georgia), where we have coaches from & a few connections.
If you can recruit well in the South you don't need to recruit nationally. It is no secret that the lion's share of talent lives south of the Mason-Dixon Line year in and year out. LSU has most of its recruiting success on the I-10 corridor states: Texas, Louisiana (of course), Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Those are the states from where LSU recruits most of its players.
