Yep. Not to mention the impact he had on the development of guys like Brooks, Tyrann and Mo-Clay. As awesome as Jasper is, it's a slap in the face to a guy playing 40-50 snaps a game to give the MVP to a kicker. Patrick Peterson is the definition of an MVP, IMO. Nevis, Sheppard and Ridley are the only others in the discussion.
Not trying to slap any faces. Just think Jasper was the offense in many games. If not for his leg we wouldn't have won 10 games.
verge ausberry. if there aren't buffer games planted the weeks after UF and bama, LSU is probably 8-4.
Let's not get crazy, now. :yelwink2: I do agree on the choice, though. Patrick Peterson contributed so much to every phase of the game. He almost single handedly won the field position battle for us in every single game. That made him invaluable, even without acknowledging his talents on defense.
Cam Newton might have something to say about that. Peterson was outstanding as a returner, but I think that's where most of his impact was. He didn't have a shutdown year at corner like we all know he's capable of. With all the close games we had this year, you have to give it to Jasper. I didn't even realize he kicked 26 FGs this year...that's insane. He led the entire NCAA. And throw in a couple corner coffin punts and runs of fakes and he's the best kicker in the nation. Don't know why he wasn't considered for the Groza Award.
This+1, this is the only JJ on the team that has proven time and time again to be money in extreme pressure situations. Just wish I could say the same about the other JJ.
I would Vote for Jasper as well he helped us out alot this year! I think he should have got in and won the Groza too! Don't understand why he was not there.
