Even more about that play... This is the best part... Tennessee KNEW it was coming and still couldn't stop it.:tigereye:
I agree. I think that Hester and Dorsey were by far the MOST appreciated Tigers on LSU's team, in fact, I often find myself trying to downplay them to help give some of the rest of the team their due appreciation.
Defensively, for 2007 I'd consider Tyson Jackson. He has the ability to wreak havoc in the backfield, and was a beast in the Bama game, but he often seemed to be overshadowed by Dorsey. 2008, however, should be a different story for him.
Oh, come on guys... Surely you can go back and read my post again and realize that I was completely kidding. I thought it would be rather evident, since those guys obviously got most of the attention on offense and defense, respectively. I even winked at the end to make it clear to anyone still confused. Doesn't that count for anything anymore?! Now that I'm thinking about it, I might give my vote to two wide receivers, Brandon LaFell and Demetrius Byrd. LaFell: Sure, most of us were peeved at him during Early's absence, especially when he inexplicably flipped a ball into (if I remember correctly) an Auburn defender's hands for an interception. But a lot was asked of LaFell sooner than he expected because of Doucet's injury. There's no excuse to play poorly, but sometimes that type of responsibility affects players differently. But when times were tough for LaFell personally, he didn't give up. He worked on his problems, and changed his approach. I would argue that LaFell bounced back rather well towards the end of the season. In fact, he finished the season with the 2nd most receptions (50) to Doucet (57.) LaFell led the team in receiving yards with 656, and averaged 13.1 yards/catch. The guy has great speed, and he will be a great receiver for us next year. Byrd: Where should I start with this guy? Should I mention that he made one of the greatest catches in LSU history at the end of the Auburn game? Byrd led the team in receiving touchdowns (7) and averaged an impressive 17.7 yards/catch. It just seemed like he was always in the right place at the right time, and Flynn and RP usually found him for a nice gain or touchdown. I thoroughly enjoyed having Byrd on the team this year. Remember how important it is to have solid receivers on the field besides your #1 guy. Teams double covered Doucet, and LaFell and Byrd made big plays. These boys both have great speed, and they're going to be the leaders on the best WR corps in the nation next year. Get your popcorn ready.
The fake punt came with LSU down 14-13 and LSU had to punt again right after they got that 1st down, so it really didn't do a whole let in terms of the grand scheme of things. What it did do was set up the pooch punt that pinned Tennessee back for the Zenon pick. LSU trailed 7-0, then 7-3, then 7-6, then took a 13-7 lead on the 1st drive of the second half on the Perrilloux to Byrd bomb TD. How soon we forget.
Good post. As soon as I read that I questioned it, but seeing who made the post I thought I was wrong. I was right?... it just goes to show, even a blind mouse finds a piece of cheese every now and then!
Fisher had a hell of a championship game, too. Not only did he get the punt off when he was roughed, but when LSU was pinned against its goal line after the botched snap to Flynn, Fisher punted from his end-zone and popped a 61 yarder, fully 20 yards past where the Ohio State returner expected it.
it's my job to be on the ball when it comes to facts and such... :thumb: someday, I plan to stump the Schwab. lol
