My top 3 would look like this 1) Pete Carrol,l with out a doubt he has had the most talent of any other program and only one NC to show for it. I don't care about his beat down of the weak 10 he still loses to teams he shouldn't. 2) "BIG GAME" Bob Stoops, his BCS bowl records says it all. 3) Mack Brown, he like Carroll has a pile of talent but one NC to show for it. With out Super Man VY he has none. How in the hell can you say CLM is overrated? He has a better record in 4 yrs than any other LSU coach has psoted in a 4 yrs stretch and has done a lot of things no other LSU coach has done. He beats every OOC team he faces and hasn't lost a bowl game. He may not be the best but he is far from overrated.
This is key. The man has THRASHED every single bowl competitor thus far, including ones to which we were the underdogs. I guess he's the anti-Stoops. :hihi: Total combined bowl score: Miles (@LSU): 157 Opponents: 44
Re: Most Overrated coach = Pete Carroll The Saints will win 5 consecutive Super Bowls before the NCAA levels the "lack of institutional control" hammer on USC. The NCAA has no subpoena power and can't otherwise force Reggie Bush, his family, or others to talk, so USC knows all they have to do is close ranks, zip their lips and the NCAA will have nothing to hang its hat on. That this has dragged on for several years now with no apparent progress is ridiculous and embarrassing.
Re: Most Overrated coach = Pete Carroll You might want to have someone check out that cough. could be swine flu. maybe Petey can do it since he can do all.
Re: Most Overrated coach = Pete Carroll With all due respect, I could give a rat's arse about whom the Times is calling out. That's an editorial piece done by a writer paid for such. He's not a beat writer. The Times like any other paper is facing declining circulation and now it seems they are disappointed that PC, our AD and even President Sample will not give them an interview. Too bad, so sad. And of course this line is neatly buried among repeated allegations that the school is doing nothing. It is wrong to assume that the NCAA will do nothing. The fact that they combined the investigations is an absolute indication that a case is being made for a lack of institutional control. I for one, am expecting sanctions of some kind and the loss of job(s) and or scholarships. But that is for the NCAA to decide, not the freakin local paper and not an editorial writer who uses second hand information and a twisting of comments to write a story that has been written a million times already. Neither PC nor Les Miles belong on that list. Expectations being met or not depend on perspective.
tough to call any of them overrated. 1) Pete Carroll's non-conference record is nearly spotless against teams like Oklahoma, Va. Tech, Auburn, Arky, Notre Dame, Ohio St (you know, teams we brag about beating). And he's gonna finish in the top 5 every year. 2) Bob Stoops yeah, he's lost 3 BCS title games, but name another coach that has been to 4 of those games. Pencil the sooners in for 11 wins just about every year as long as he's there. Now if this list were for biggestt azzholes in NCAA football, Stoops is the entire top 3. 3) Mack has been as consistant as anyone can ask. 10 wins is an off year for him. 9 is the fewest he's had since arricing in Austin. Hell, he won 10 games a few times at North Carolina
Don't get me wrong they are very good coaches but they should have more to show for it and if this was Les Miles everyone would say he is wasting talent and isn't winning enough championships and you know they would. It's funny how these guys get a pass when they field, year in year out, some of the most talented teams in the nation and manage to lose games they shouldn't lose. When every player on your defense plus some of their back ups get drafted you should have some serious hardware to show for that. You can win all the games you want by blowing out inferior teams but if you don't win your bowl games what good was that season.
