I am not the biggest LSU historian, because of my age, but is this baseball winning streak the most impressive LSU streak and if not, what is? I know it's the best for baseball, but has something that was done by another sport still ahead of it? Or heck, individual streaks can count in this, too, I suppose. Just thought it'd stir good convo.
Sticking to baseabll, here are some others to compare... 17 Consecutive Postseason Appearances ('89-'06) Undefeated Post Seasons ('91, '96, '00) 5-0 All Time in CWS Championship Games Skip's Record @ LSU: 870-330-3 (.725) 1995-1998 Eddy Furniss Home runs in a career (80) #4 All-Time 1997 Brandon Larson Home runs in a season (40) #4 All-Time
Was that the year where one game every batter with an at bat hit a homerun? Or maybe it was all but one batter. I can't remember.
UCLA's streak of 10 men's basketball championships comes close. Hard to compare the competition between the two sports and eras, though. Women's soccer isn't on the same level. UCLA also had a 88 game win streak in men's hoops. And of course, OU had a 47 game football win streak in the 50s. But they are still behind the women's track streak, IMHO, especially when you consider they had a long indoor streak at the same time. GEAUX TIGERS
I would disagree with that. I think their national championship streak is the greatest in all of sports, followed by UCLA's national championship streak, then perhaps LSU's.
