Ed Orgeron - hands down. Oh No recruited against LSU, not just competed, but reportedly actively encouraged recruits to go to any other school but LSU - even when they had decided not to sign with his Ole Myth team. I'm not sure what happened on that one day of practice he spent at LSU when he was recruited out of high school, but he apparently went to Northwestern State with a chip on his shoulder when it came to LSU. I wish he were banned from recruiting in the south forever. ldskule:
1. You know who 2. Urban Meyer 3. Lane Kiffin - entire USC staff 4. Bobby Petrino 5. Brian Kelly (default)
The times they are a changin', not one list with Spurrier's name on it. He was public enemy #1 when he as at Florida. The one thing about Spurrier that I've noticed is that during a game he appears to have a permanent look of consternation.
then you would be just another local hometown hs football hero that never amounted to much. At least, if that is the only things you took into consideration before signing.
Ha. I always had a love/hate thing going on with Spurrier when he was kicking everybody's azz in the SEC... loving him as a coach but hating him for beating us down. I would have played for him. Guy was a Heisman QB coaching his alma mater to greatness. Putting myself in the shoes of an NCAA recruit in the 90's, yes, I would have played for Spurrier at Florida had LSU not given me an offer. But South Carolina sux so I wouldn't play for him there. I was a big fan of Lou Holtz at ND, and I would have played for him at ND had LSU not given me an offer, but not at South Carolina. But with Urban Meyer, I honestly think he is a disgrace to college football, to the University of Florida (a fine academic and sports institution), and to the human race in general. I have little to no respect for the guy. There is nothing he could do to get me to play ball for him if I was in the shoes of an NCAA recruit. I just don't like him (even though he did coach at ND under Lou Holtz who I did like).
I got full academic scholarships to schools across the nation so I didn't have to worry about lowering myself to play for some football coach I didn't like. But yeah, if I had nothing else to hang my hat on besides my ability on the football field, and one of those coaches I hated was the only coach to give me an offer... well, then I might have had to just to suck it up and play for them, wouldn't I? Fortunately, all the kids that LSU recruits have a wide variety of scholarships to play for great coaches and great programs, yet, they decide to come here because of the greatness of LSU, Les Miles, his coaching staff, and his team. :LSU231: GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!
