While I've got way too many to name, mine has got to be the 2003 NC. I grew up listening to LSU football on the radio with my mom, my dad walking around checking the scores because he was too nerveous to listen. After sitting through some of the most horrible games in LSU history in the late 80's and early 90's. I didn't know if I'd ever see a national championship. My dad didn't. I'm not too proud to say I had a lump in my throat at the end of that one. But, this last season, watching Miles get a little sweet redemption at the hands of those overbearing bama fans (who all were predicting LSU's fall into mediocrity) is pretty high too.:milesmic:
Being in the Dome for that game was awesome! When we came with a delayed blitz and put White on his butt I went nuts. As the final punt bounced across the turf and the clock expired we all went crazy. It was great! The '96 CWS ending also comes to mind. I probably jumped higher than I ever have when the ball cleared the wall. Watching us beat the scum-sucking Stanford Cardinal on a hit by Cresse was fantastic! The Bluegrass Miracle is also on my short list. I watched it on tv but wish I had been there. I have many more as we've been fortunate to enjoy so many great times at LSU. I hope we'll continue to enjoy this success for many years.
The Warren Morris HR has to be at the top. I simply can't remember a more dynamic moment. It was storybook. Hoisting the BCS crystal football in the Superdome for the first time. I didn't know if I would ever live to see that moment.
Great thread topic! For me, the most exhilarating moment was just about any moment of the 2007 BCSNCG after we went up. I wanted LSU to beat OSU so bad I could taste the scarlet and grey. It probably should've been the 2003 Sugar Bowl win over OU for the NC, but it was such a new feeling I didn't really know how to celebrated. Being a Saints fan and just getting into CFB, I had never gotten to experience any success. I kinda wanted a redo, so by the time the 2007 BCSNCG came around, it had been building for years. I'll say it again, I'm so lucky and grateful to be an LSU TIGER....GEAUX TIGERS!!
Another one for me was beating Kentucky in the PMAC to win the SEC in 1985. Members of the '81 Final Four team were in attendance and the place was rocking. The students had great seats. I was near the court, the players, the band, etc. We didn't go far after that but the next few years were pretty darn good! What made it special was partially due to youth. I had never seen LSU win anything "important" before then so to be just a few feet away was awesome.
the 2003 championship and in a way, it was bittersweet as it was something i thought i would never see, but also reminded me that a friend didnt get to see it. i had a friend in br who had been a tiger fan his whole live and had season tix of his own for like 25 years, and had gone with his father for years before that. his life revolved around lsu football. he and his brother had their tix together and when their sister got married on a home game day, they were good brothers, stood up in the wedding, and as soon as the "i do's" were exchanged, kissed their sister good bye and hit the road to drive like bats out of hell for an hour to get to br just in time for kick off. they never missed a home game. my friend died the spring before the nc season. he accidentally killed himself. his brother said the week he died "this will be the year lsu will finally win a nc". he knew that my friend had waited his whole life for an lsu nc and was going to have "just missed it". each game as we got nervous, the brother would tell another friend "dont worry. we are gonna win the national championship." he never waivered in that belief. ever. and he was in the dome for it. he took his daughter since the brother couldnt be there with him. he is the one who brought me an advocate "front page" hand out from the dome when we won. so it was exhilarating on one hand, and sad on the other that someone whose whole life was spent cheering for the tigers wasnt there to see it. but he was there in spirit. oh, and add to that we beat ou, well life was pretty good for me! i got a LOT of mileage out of that!
