No, Boone is about an hour north of I-4. Part of it's charm, also part of a curse. It's hard to get to. It limits growth, until recently the roads into town were two lane twisty mountain roads. The closest major airport is two hours away. The town has about 15,000 people and the school has about 15,000 resident students. They get up to 30,000 at some football games. Hotel space is limited and traffic is bad. Restaurant waits can be 2+hours on game days. When the leaves are changing color you can forget it. Most drive up and back for games. Great atmosphere for a game. AS far as FSA, wasn't sure where to put it.

LOL, winter can be pretty harsh at times. My freshman year we had two 30+ inch snowstorms and a foot a week for about two months. I thought that was normal, turns out it wasn't. Still grateful to have a 4 wheel drive while I was there. Made a lot of money pulling tourists out of ditches. FYI, they never canceled classes once during that time frame. Now they get over an inch it they shut it down.Bunch of sissies.

They've gotten the same way in Louisiana. When I was a kid, the only time school got cancelled was when a hurricane actually approached; also had one snow day in 12 years of elementary/high school. Now they cancel if the next day forecast is for severe thunderstorm and possible flooding. They say its because of transportation issues, but school busses are as tall now as they were 30 years ago, when pickup trucks were also not nearly as common and SUVs were non-existent.

A LOT of the girls I went to high school with went to App State. I remember, vividly, getting a letter from one that pointed out that they had put some small bottles of milk on the inside window ledge. And the milk bottles froze!!!!

That was a long time ago but I remember that comment after all these years.
