Penn St. also had a month to prepare to beat us, and it definitely showed in the running game. Basic point being that the time argument is flawed b/c it is equitable on both sides
Good point, I agree but how do you explain how mediocre our football team has been on the offensive side of the ball. We still have halfs and Quarters with barely a pulse whether we were playing, Ga, Washington, fill in the blank. I could look this stuff up but why bother, its not like I'm making anything up?:insane:
Btw, does that mean Penn St has better coaches then? It definitely didn't show in our running game did it?
this is all true.... good post. I see alot of people calling for JJ's head and they forgot Lee and his golden arm. read my sig people it isnt JJ. Tell me which other QB in the SEC other than the man god tebow is better? at 19 to boot.
I certainly agree, the offense has been stagnant far to often this year, and I wasn't trying to argue the opposite. Offensive performance this season needed to improve, and that mainly came from poor play calling, and a weak O-Line. I think in this particular game, it was far more a result of poor conditions, and poor player performances (Mainly from the receivers and of course, still the O-Line). Not lack of preparation, until we try to run a 2-minute drill.
Sorry if I wasn't clear. Clarifying, I meant that our inability to run showed that Penn St. had a month to prepare for us. They were ready for everything we tried, and we could not catch them off guard or unprepared And yes, it definitely showed that their DC (I don't know his name) is better than Crowton. They were ready for most everything we threw at them, especially on the ground. Our most effective plays (like the TD pass) came when JJ called hot routes at the line.
I would agree with you if it hadn't been a trend all year. How do you explain us actually finding the offense all of a sudden in the 3rd Q like most of the season if it was field conditions though? Penn St also had to play in the same field conditions also and I believe their offense was quite a bit better than us. They almost lost the game in the red zone though, came out with field goals instead of tds, some of that is also due to our defense. This game was really close to not being close!:hihi: Edit: I will say though that I believe some of the dropped passes was due to a slick ball, I get that!
First of all, it's playing conditions, not field conditions. The reason the offense clicked in the third was because it wasn't raining anymore, and our WR's stopped dropping passes. The offense would have been incredibly productive in the second, had the WR's been able to catch at all. Most of the season, we were behind b/c of overly conservitive play calls, then once we opened it up in the third, we turned it around. This week, we opened the playbook up towards the end of the first, and had it not been for drops/fumbles, we would ahve been in very good shape. Also, their offense was not at all better than ours. Don't forget that they had 5 fumbles and we dropped at least 2 very easy potential INT's, along with a few tougher ones. We had plenty of chance to stop their offense and take this game over, but our players did not preforme like they usually do and gave them 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances. Combine that with the fact that we had 18 (Yes, 18! for 128 yards) penatlies against Penn St's 2, and our poor player performance becomes all the more apparent. I still believe that this season did not meet our expectations b/c up until today we were far to conservative on offense and did not give JJ a chance to be a good QB, basically meaning, our biggest problem all year has been play calling. But not today. Today, the issue was player performance. Plane and simple, these players did not performe to their normal level.
First I have enjoyed spending time on your board. The posters here are knowledgeable, classy and quite humorous. I am not going to say good game etc. it sucks to lose and I respect your team and fans too much to patronize . The field was an absolute mess making it difficult to assess play by either team. We had the most points at the end and won. Was it pretty no...... I think Jefferson is going to be a good QB. Our defense looked outstanding and kept us in the game. Our field goal kicker was the MVP in my opinion. It has been a pleasure visiting .LSU has great talent and I think you will be contenders next year.
