Logistics. The new tower isn't even up yet and they're getting ready to take it down.

I defer to victims' families. If it's OK with them it's OK with me.

Great... Now they can bomb inner-city New York again, but only this time they have somewhere they can hide since we're too wussified of a nation to go after them in a mosque.

Are you kidding? We have shot up half the Mosques in Iraq. If the enemy hides there, it is a target. It's only a church if people are legitimately worshipping there, else it is just a building.

It's going to be hard to legally deny American citizens the right to build a church wherever they want to without risk that it will be used against other denominations in the future. The federal government has its hands tied by the Constitution and rightfully so. But covertly Homeland Security can make sure that the building is laced with secure bugs. And the city and state of New York have a byzantine bureaucracy that can delay, deny, and add regulations, certifications, inspections, and obscure requirements for years.

What New York must do is to make it so expensive in terms of costs, risks, and negative publicity that they reconsider their location. Convince them that this will be become the US center of Islamic intolerance and will be subjected to graffiti, demonstrations, attacks by extremists and other acts of civil disobediance so as to become a security hazard requiring further very expensive special police protection.

I have no problem with it as long as the New York Taxpayer isn't having to pay for it, in any way shape or form. I remember when a Mosque was built right on the corner of my mom's neighborhood in Colleyville TX. There were some pissed of people, but ultimately it is their right. Plus, think of it this way, if you think there are any muslims affiliated with radicals, that attend these mosques, isn't it better to know where they congregate?

I have to disagree to an extent here amigo. I haven't been there in a while but none of our units ever engaged a masque, we were not allowed to. Hell the mahdi were the biggest bunch of terrorist there and with the new political system all they did was dropped a gold dome over the top of their honeycomb hideout and called it a mosque just so we couldn't go in there. I'm not saying a mosque has never been engaged, they have. They are however protected and we had better have a damned good reason for engaging it. The ROE over there is terrible, at least it was a few years ago and from what I understand has only gotten worse.

Okay hijack over, I'm against it.
