I guess perception is everything, huh? Top 3 program? Historically, yes, but not yet as of right now. Maybe if they had won a conference championship in the last few years or even a BCS bowl game... They have been unbelievable in the regular season, but you have to win the big ones to be up there with the top dawgs the last few years. If they win on Saturday, then you can say they're in there. At the end of the day, you still have to win the biggest ones, not get punked by Utah in the Sugar after going 12-0 in the regular season.

One thing is for sure, he has them back in the hunt every year and is a very good coach.

Oh, and Nick Saban's gynecologist told me that he wants to come back to LSU because it's the only place where he's ever won anything significant.

I agree. I'd love the thought of the return of Saban but have to realistically think chances are less than 5%. It would turn college football upside down and would only hurt Saban's trustworthiness factor. Face it, the guy had career aspirations that led him to want to make the switch to the pros. He did say after all of that that his biggest mistake was to leave BR. Now the question is, how/where do we find another. It's surely not what we have now. I don't beleive the current recruiting is bad by any measure, but we will be taking a big hit with Coach Larry Porter leaving. Even though I hate Lane Kiffin I like that he was able to get such great recruiters, especially Orgeron, to sign on with Tennessee.

I can buy the Saban likes Baton Rouge better than Tuscaloosa. Maybe he'll come back when he retires.

Well, The Sabans do have rental property in BR that Mrs. Saban leases
with the help of a very successful agent in Baton Rouge, maybe they are
keeping a retirement home here?

I'd consider Saban, but he wouldn't be my first choice. He did us wrong for a lot of money... twice. He'd still be a good choice (and better than Miles IMO), but he has his flaws as well. I'm more interested in going in another direction. In fact, based on the convincing arguments by JohnLSU, I think we ought to look up Dinardo.

I didn't think Saban would leave LSU when he did - I was wrong

I didn't think NO WAY Nick would leave the NFL for Bama - I was wrong

I don't think Nick would come back to BR to coach football - I was ?

Lord no, talk it up all you want but once enough the first time around. His "magic" obviously faded considering he sucked in the XFL and at Indiana.

    haha, much better

I don't doubt that the man got the ball rolling but to even suggest that LSU built Saban or Bama has continued building Saban as mentioned in another post (not sure by who and too lazy to look it up, lol) is just silly. I don't remember Dinardo or Shula doing what Saban has done at either school. Didn't both coaches get fired for some reason? Help refresh my memory....
