Hyperbole. We also did not play well enough to win. If you want to imagine that the O-line is perfect and spectacular, go for it. But the TV and radio commentators at the Georgia game, me, and the people watching the game with me all thought that Georgia won the battle in the trenches on both sides of the ball. I think we have tremendous talent on the O-line and that they are also underperforming. We heard all summer that we had depth this year, but few reserves ever see the field to get some experience and give the starters a break. We blew out State in the 4th quarter and Ethan Pocic did not get into the game. I have long been a critic of Studrawa as a O-line coach. I think his lines underperform.
My biggest problem with that muff is that he should have called for the fair catch. When I saw the hangtime of the punt, I was saying out loud "Fair catch! Fair catch! Please! Fair catch!". I know his tendency to want to do too much some times, and in a close game, I figured he might try to do something heroic. Truth be told, with our offense rolling, he didn't need to be the hero. Our defense finally got a stop, and we could have taken control of the game. Total mental mistake on his part.
College Football Classics showed the LSU Fla game from a few years ago. We win the game but PP7 muffed a punt with 7:07 left in 2nd quarter. That led to a Fla td. When your a punt returner muffs are going to happen.
About a 1/2 of UGA's plays of 10+ yards came against our Defense. At least it felt like it watching that game. Seeing the LSU offensive stats gets me pumped up and happy, but then I think about our Defense. It's so discouraging to finally have an explosive offense only to see a game squandered by our horrendous D. Hopefully it was just that one game. I'm very proud of Metts and happy with CCC though and hopefully we can support them with a somewhat of a decent D.
Even with a low Offensive game with Florida. All of this happened: Mettenberger moves up Mettenberger’s modest yardage total was enough for him to pass Alan Risher for seventh place in LSU history in career passing yards (4,591) even though he has started just 20 games. Risher passed for 4,585 from 1980-82. Hill’s habit — 100 yards Though he’s just a sophomore who didn’t become a starter until the middle of last season, Hill already is tied for fourth in school history with eight 100-yard rushing games. He’s tied with Charles Scott (2006-09) and Harvey Williams (1986-90). Hill has rushed for 100 yards in four of the last five games. Record-setting start Redshirt freshman Colby Delahoussaye remained perfect on place-kicks, making both PATs and his only field goal attempt — from 31 yards. Delahoussaye is 8 for 8 on field goals, breaking David Browndyke’s school record for most consecutive field goals made to start a career. Delahoussaye has made all 34 of his extra points.
@LSUBillMartin: . @LSUfball very likely to have first 2,500 yd passer, 1,000 yd receiver, 1,000 yd rusher in same season since 2003. Only time its happened.
Well if you don't have anything good to say, say this... @LSUBillMartin: Odell Beckham Jr. of @LSUfball needs just 307 yards to shatter the #SEC Record for Single Season All Purpose Yards. Cobb, UK 2,396 in 2010
