You don't have to be perfect to field a punt and no one ever said he was perfect thank you very much.
One play? How about three busted coverage plays with wide open receivers in the end zone? How about the two returns that Beckham almost broke? Or the four sacks that the O-line gave up! Fix any one of those foul-ups and LSU wins the game on the road and we're in the top 4. Both lines were manhandled and we still scored 40 points and almost won. There is a lot of blame to be shared for that loss. But the big takeaway is that we can fix a few bad issues and LSU is still going to be a handful for any opponent this year. We are going to give up a shitload of points for an LSU defense. But we are also going to score two shitloads of points for an LSU offense.
There is no regular punt returner in the history of the game that hasn't muffed a couple. Give the guy a break. Where would we be without him? How many specfuckingtacular plays has he made?
Personally, I'm enjoying this season. It's much more fun to have an explosive offense than a strong defense. Would I prefer to have both? Yep. Will the lack of defense cause us a chance at a championship? Probably... But it is what it is. And, yes, I know there were a gazillion defensive mishaps in the UGA game.
Have you read anything? I've done everything short of getting on my knees and blowing the fucking guy. I know he's a bad ass, and that's what makes it so bad. The dude makes crazy ass one handed no look catches on end over end kicks offs for god's sake.
Man, you really don't like our O-line, do you? A team puts up well over 500 yards and 41 points at Georgia and our O-line got manhandled? Those two facts could not possibly coexist. The Bulldogs blitzed on that series and we unfortunately couldn't pick it up and it cost us from having a game winning TD. That was their failure, the last 2 minutes of the game.
Actually I'm pretty sure there was some blowing involved! But I agree, it's not that we're attacking the guy, we just feel you can't make that kind of play as a superstar veteran leader on the team. Penalty here, something there sure. But as a superstar you don't make plays like that.
I feel like we can't can't blame any one individual for the lost to UGA. So many players made mistakes that could be considered major while appearing to be routine. The fact is we lost, UGA made a couple of more plays then we did. If you feel the need to blame one person then I guess nothing we say can change your mind.
A realist looks at the past and figures out what caused the outcome of a past event. That doesn't preclude him/her from being optimistic about the future. And using only a certain small sample to predict the future can be bad judgement. Most of the people who look to the future with such overwhelming gloom don't grasp the big picture too well.
