Get this... @jonsol: Texas A&M and LSU are both on pace to break '95 Gators' SEC-record 7.4 yards per play. http://t.co/tZysVDWXD4
It happens but he's done more than enough this season to make up for it. We still had a chance to win the game at the end...
That just can't happen though. He is a veteran on this team and a guy who is a leader and he just cannot make an unforced error like that. That was one of the few times our D got a stop and I actually think that muff completely took the wind out of the D's sails.
A lot of other things happened in that game 'that just can't happen'. The man is a superstar and was one of the reasons we were even in the game. I just don't see the point on dwelling on it when he just had a 180 yard 2 TD performance against a solid defense.
I agree with both your post and the one you were responding to. Beckham has been electric at times and also made some mistakes during his career. This age of social media is making me realize that some fans choose to focus on the negatives rather than the positives. If it makes you feel better to have a negative perspective, then do that if it works for you. If it makes you feel better to respond to negativity with positivity, then do that.
Doesn't change the fact that it was routine play that cost LSU a win and control of their own destiny to the national championship. It was so routine for a guy with his talent it's Bucknerish. Dude's a great player and that's what makes it worse. If it was Travin Dural or some other freshman or sophomore that's never played before this season than fine, but it wasn't and it took away the momentum and put a gassed defense that finally put together a stop right back on the field to get a TD scored on them. That CANNOT happen from a guy who is a superstar. Not taking away anything he has done other than that, because they guy is a baller.
A fumble that happened with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter cost us the game? How about those 44 points we gave up and the fact that we couldn't protect Mett on the last drive (When we could have won the game)? BTW we responded with a 70 yard TD drive to tie the game after we gave up the score after the fumble. I'm pretty sure if it was Dural or someone else, we would be all calling for Miles head for playing a freshman or inexperienced player in that situation (and not Beckham). My point is that the fumble was definitely not okay regardless of who it is but is not the main reason we lost the game. We had a whole quarter to close the deal but we didn't. Beckham has always been adventurous on punt returns for better or worse, this time it didn't work out. Let's not forget Beckham had 87 receiving yards AFTER the fumble and contributed to 2 TD drives.
On third downs, Mettenberger is 30-for-46 passing with seven touchdowns, zero interceptions and a QB rating of 216.0
I like this one....... LSU has scored 30 or more points in the first six games of a season for the first time in school history and they’ve accounted for 400 or more total yards in all six games – also a first for LSU. For the first time in school history, the Tigers have scored at least 35 points in six straight games. An this one........ LSU has played 14 true freshmen so far this season. The 14 true freshmen rank as the nation’s third-highest total, trailing Texas A&M (17) and UCLA (16). In nine years under Miles, LSU has sent a total of 87 true freshmen to the field.
You seem to keep forgetting that LSU's defense couldn't stop Georgia. They did on that drive, and then had to go back on the field immediately after because one of the best players on the team fucked up very badly ON HIS OWN. The defense as a unit got gashed all day, something we all knew was going to happen anyway. It's punt, he's a punt returner, you cannot do it, and yes I believe if he fields that punt LSU wins, and a whole shitload of people feel the same way, and probably even Odell himself.
