After 2 games are you more or less optimistic about our chances of returning to a BCS bowl or Championship game. Right now, I have to say less, I look at teams like USC and Oklahoma, hell even Missouri (even though they havent played anyone worth talking about), and the one think that is apparent is their QB play. These teams have great QB play so far. Will our QB play be enough to get us to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. For the shortcomings we had last year, we always balanced it out with good QB play. Your thoughts
I'm less optimistic, however; voted for 'talk to you after the auburn game' too. Auburns defense will force our QB's to mature with reads or simply give up... I'm slightly less optimistic, but it's still early. Let's not write off anything just yet. I see field position helping us a lot with great returns or people kicking out of bounds to avoid a return.
After Auburn we should know. I am confident the overall team play will make up for the short comings and balance the game out. So we have not shown a deep ball...Back at you with Crowton and running schemes from hell. Richard Dickson has yet to be let out of the cage and the same speaks for many others. Auburn will be a tough game but a road game in Florida will define how this season turns out. I feel we are going to be pleasantly shocked with our QB play this week. I am more concerned with getting burned on the blitz. We have opened river size holes and somebody has to pick up the gaps. Very generous letting North Pudding get away with a few but it must end there.
Good post. I also think we've been sort of vanilla on both sides of the ball. Not really disguising blitzes, running base schemes, etc. It was that way last year too; like we didn't really want to tip our hand until we started playing better competition. I still think we have alot of shortcomings, but AU will definitely be a better indication of where we are.
I like our chances enough of going back to NO. Everyone talks about QB play. What about running back play? O-Line play? Tight End play? Receiver play? D-Line play? DB play? The QB gets the attention because he's under the spotlight, and the Big Twelve wins the QB conversation, hands-down. But it takes 22 starters and a good dozen or so backups to make a great team.
I don't see any other team in the west right now that has made enough progress to knock LSU off the hill. So I say you win the West. All depending on who gets in the championship game I think all depends on your BCS chances. I think if you go up against Georgia you win another SEC title. But if its Florida I think you get beat. Florida looks scary this season with a much improved defense.
I say more optimistic, but more so based on our competitions' performances than our own. UF looks to be the best team we'll play, while Auburn & UGA are looking very beatable.
Are we really all that concerned with Florida after two games? Hawaii was not much of a threat even WITH Brennan and without them they are just a 1AA team in disguise, and what has Miami done lately? Are we expecting the 'Canes to be back? They scored a combined 54 points on Marshall and FIU and gave up FIFTY to Oklahoma . No...Florida may yet still be the class of the East, but they still have much to prove, just like some of the rest. Personally, I'm starting to worry more about Bama than any team from the East. ...Glad we're not playing Vandy :hihi:!
