Respect? There are exactly 2 Coaches in the History of SEC Football who have won 11 games 3 consecutive seasons: Les Miles & Bear Bryant. Miles does not need "Respect" from a bunch of SEC coaches he's already beaten. The lone exception being Richt, who LSU will beat this year IMO. Miles is 2-1 against Meyer, Tubby, Fulmer & Nutt. 1-0 against Spurrier & Saban. Also none of these coaches are winning 85% of thier games. It's pathetic that Saban tries to keep his name associated with an elite LSU program & tried to take credit for Miles success. Saban knows he's only good for 8-9 wins per season. Miles has won 34 & lost 6. The losses all came against SEC competition & 3 were in Overtime. Saban never came close to that level at LSU. Had Saban coached LSU this year, He would have gone for the Tie FG against Auburn & probably missed. Against Florida, Saban would have just kept punting on 4th down until the clock ran out, then blamed the players for not executing.
Auburn could change the name to The University of Alabama at Auburn, then the Montgomery Advertiser could ignore the "at" part and just call them "Alabama". Then, when they play the Tide, the paper could report it as Alabama vs. Alabama-Tuscaloosa. People in Lafayette think that works. :hihi:
And I offerred the distinction to make a point that...to a large degree...the FANS who say these kinda things probably never even attended the U of A...much less graduated. Don't take that the wrong way...LSU has it's fair share of FANS like that, too...just like most major programs do. Just saying, FANS is a lot different than GRADS. By the way, <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< NOT an LSU grad...but I did attend...and I am a fan. (I live in a house, though) And there is often a HUGE distinction in the job fields for non grads. There are bums, there are workers, there are business owners, and sometimes...there is a combination of all three...like me. Consider, I own a couple of businesses, work really hard 3 days a week...sometimes even 4...and bum around, fish, hunt, etc, the rest of the time. I do aight, though.:thumb: RERAIL THREAD-----Back on topic, I find it sad that this is even a topic of discussion. I thought we were beyond this after the Miami game...or the UT game of '06, or the ND game, or the UF game of '07, or the BCSfrigginNC! I LOVE the fact that people think Les is a moron...and I think he does, too. He's laughing all the way to the trophy case...and the bank...in that order.
Dunno if I agree with that, Thorny ....... I won't speak for UA, but the opinions about Les Miles among the Auburn folks that I know were initially mixed, but no less divided than they were among LSU's own fanbase. Just as Miles has managed to earn more respect among LSU fans, so he has done among Auburn's fans too. We recognize, as LSU fans do, that the winner of the LSU-AU contest has the highest probability of determining the eventual SECW winner ........
From lurking on AU boards, I would say that Miles is definitely starting to win some respect among the AU fanbase. I will disagree that AU fans were no more critical of Miles' abilities and intellect than LSU fans, though. Until Miles won a NC, I rarely, if ever, saw anyone on AU boards suggest that Miles was a good coach. While Miles didn't initially win over many LSU fans, I feel like more of our fanbase was on board sooner in realizing we had a d$#n strong coach.
This is going to be a boring off season now that everyone is on the Miles bandwagon. C'mon people, someone out there must still think he's a phucking doofus because of the way he wears his hat. Surely at least one of you blames his speach impediment to his lack of football knowledge. Maybe one of y'all can make up something negative to get things moving here again.
staceyo stole my thunder. i like when people think les is an idiot. underestimation is the first step in failure.
Oh you can bet there are still a few "braniacs" here that think that. Though predictably, they have become vewy, vewy quiet...
