That's not even remotely the same as you meeting an everyday, salt-of-the-earth Muslim and asking them questions (like I have). I could give you answers, but they would lack the intended impact when you're not looking in this person's eyes as they explain their belief system to you.

 

I'm gonna take a stab at this and Lord only knows why but I think what he (spike) is trying to say is that they will look you in the eyes and tell you this stuff but they either don't really believe it. Deep down there is something else. I can tell you from experience that they do in fact lie and they do it a lot and very convincingly. I've seen them do it to each other, to us when we are trying to protect their silly asses, to just about everyone. This one cat was taking the money we would give him to fix up his town and giving it to the madhi so they could build bombs with it. He would look us right in the eye and tell us he didn't know where they got the money. My commander had to physically throw me out of a meeting once because I called him (the shiek) a terrorist right in his face as I was reaching for my sidearm. I had had enough of the fat bastard putting my friends in body bags.

 

It's a generalization that is completely inaccurate. It is 100% impossible for people to adhere to a religion and then suddenly all 1.6 billion of them are the world's best liars. It's just not going to happen.

I can tell you from experience that they are just like you and me. They are ashamed of the fringe groups in which they draw similarities. I don't claim to be an expert, but I am an excellent lie detector when I am face-to-face with someone. I have excellent observation skills and can pick up when something isn't right. It's not a 100% guarantee, but you can't tell me that every Muslim person I have spoken to has looked me in the eye and flat out lied, especially when not every answer or story is the same. There are just as many Muslim who argue on the interpretations of verses in the Koran as there are Christians who argue on the interpretations of verses in the Bible.

 

Good enough, and as long as you are okay with it that is all that matters. I am not an expert either and don't want to be. I was just giving you some of my real world experiences and what I've drawn from them. I'm sure there are some really good muslims out there, I just haven't met any yet. We had one in my platoon when I was stationed at Ft. Riley, (actually he was an American born in Detroit I think) who converted to islam. Most aggrevating POS I have ever met. I don't know if he lied a lot but he was dumber than a box of rocks. I will leave my argument with this, I haven't met "all" of the muslims and I know what many of them preach is a religion of peace but there is too much hatred and violence coming from it to ignore. Where there is smoke there is usually fire. Just sayin...
