well, the difference is that those dudes who have no chance are way, way better, and probably kicked in high school. miles is certain she cant make the team (even if all he knows is that she is a woman), but he lets her try out because it is easier to do that than deal with people who say things that are very stupid and clearly untrue.

my overall point all along has been that it shouldnt be looked at as noble or sweet to repeat stupid untrue things for no reason. women cant play major college football. thats just a fact, there is nothing mean or wrong about it.

anytime a mens team is bad some moron will say that a woman is better. i heard it most recently about soccer. a dude i know said a player on the us womens team was so good she could play for the men, because the men are not winning much. the reality is the best woman in the world is not one of the best 10 thousand soccer players on earth. she is tragically slow and weak. we should endeavor to decouple value judgements from reality based analysis.
