not sure what part of what i said you disagree with? do you think she has a chance to make the team? she doesnt. do you think she thinks she can make the team? she knows she cannot. she has seen the male kickers. she knows they are in a different league. why would a mentally healthy girl seek publicity this way? the answer is that she wouldnt. unfortunately this poor girl has gone through some really tough times.
If she earns a spot on the team, then more power to her. Doesn't matter to me either way. But this has nothing to do with the trauma in her past. This is simply a very shrewd publicity stunt to further her professional career, whether it's in soccer or journalism. It's a smart move, and both she and LSU get good press out of it.
it wouldnt matter to me either way if hillary clinton won the heisman. in fact i wish her the best. if she can win it fair and square, more power to her. but she wont and it isnt worth saying "if she can". because she cant. she cant. the LSU football team shouldnt be engaging in publicity stunts. but you are right, that is what this is, not a legitimate tryout. its a hot chick playing everyone because she is hot and she can.
Agree publicity stunt by LSU and is giving her great publicity. Nice positive distraction and signals a fresh start for the team.
well more accurately a publicity stunt by her, not the school. she has lsu in a position where they must pretend and play along or else deal with the negative PR. les has to say nice things and then politely let her know she has no chance. but that is ok for her she has already attracted all sorts of media. and she is definitely suuper hot so i hope she is the next erin andrews. i am only saying that this opinion "hey why not give her a shot, i will support her if she makes it" is stupid because she cant actually kick and she has zero chance of making it. and if she did it almost certainly be at the expense of some other dude who was better than her, thus trivializing the lovely sport of football.
Right. She isn't a particularly elite female soccer player. It's not like the national team is beating down the door to get her. There are dozens of much better female kickers, and none of them are kicking at even crappy colleges that don't have elite NCAA kickers like Drew Allemen.
Wow, this thread has a healthy coating of testosterone LMAO! Let me just say that I have seen females compete against males in a variety of sports and do quite well. To say that a female can't compete with a male in any real sport is a ridiculous thing to say. Given the right skills, speed, and desire to win, any person has a chance to compete and do well, or even fail, male or female. Now, I won't comment on this other stuff being brought up about "publicity stunts", since in reality, we have absolutely no idea. We had a female catcher on my little league baseball team one season who was literally a WALL to runners heading home. Yes, there are some things women can't compete with men on. I wouldn't think you would see her line up with the defense or carry for a running play. It's also, in my opinion, quite presumptuous to say she can't out-kick the men on any level. I would think before trying out to begin with, she has tried her fair share of kicks down a football field. I wouldn't try out for anything without knowing first whether I could even do it. As someone else said here, if she can put the ball downfield, and be consistent in doing so, I say go for it. On the other hand, someone else here brought up a valid point... if she makes the team and actually takes the position over, what's that say about the male player who would be benched to make room for her?
