About 10 years ago, Aaron Brooks (yep, the Saints QB) won a longest throw competition at the Pro Bowl with a throw of 63 yards. Brooks was considered to have one of the strongest arms in the league in his prime. 56 yards is farther than you think.
nope its right about from the goal line just a little past midfield. and if a qb is 15 yds behind the line of scrimmage it means he can complete a pass no longer than 41 yards (in the air)
Typical NFL QB can throw it 60-70. The guys with super strong arms can throw 70-80. I expected Mett to be in the 60s. I've seen Joe Flacco throw it 74 in the ESPN QB Challenge. I believe Cunningham threw it 78-79 in the QB Challenge years ago. Kyle Boller famously threw the ball 65 yards from his knees for scouts when he was coming out and it was rumored he could throw it over 80. 56 is certainly well above average for a regular guy, but it's pretty pedestrian for college/pro QB standards. I've never tried it with a NCAA or NFL ball, but I tried back in high school and I could throw in the high 40s. I have a pretty good arm for your average guy off the street but nothing compared to a college or pro athlete.
A quarterback who's 15 yards behind the line is probably running for his life and not looking for a receiver 55 yards away. The typical drop back is 7 or 8 yards back. But you guys win, Mett has no arm.
Doesn't matter how far he can throw it as long as he is accurate and has good timing. It's surprising to me, but certainly not anything that would make me question his ability to QB the team.
no one is. just saying it aint far. especially for someone who was said to have a great arm. but if you rewatch the video you'll notice he throws it opposite handed.
