Talking with a draft guy today, he says that Mo might get drafted higher than PP7. Remember PP went 5th. Hes saying that Mo could be the second player taken. Doesn't know if he lasts till the 5th. spot. Lots of teams are looking at Mo early. Congrats to him........Geaux Mo... This mock draft has him as the third player taken....as with anything, depends on the team and needs. NFL Draft 2012 - ESPN A little more. NFL.com news: Top 10 DBs: LSU corner Claiborne leads talented SEC trio
Corners are vital in the NFL now more than ever.. teams have prolific wide receivers three and four deep whereas most teams struggle to find two good corners let alone three or four. Mo's length, his quick hips, outstanding acceleration and superb ball skills make a complete package. I think he's been better as a pure cover guy this year than Patrick was last year. Sometimes when a guy has to rely more on technique than physical gifts he outperforms the more physically talented player.
I really wish the first round draft streak didn't end a couple of years ago. It looks like we are starting a new one.
Well said. I am PP7s biggest fan but the dude was sometimes sloppy in his technique at LSU and it showed against top receivers and is showing now in the NFL. Not often because, he was such a freak athlete that he could make up for it. Mo is still a great athlete but he makes much fewer mistakes. It's frightening to think about what if PP7 stayed for one more year...oh boy
I agree, also it looks like we will have around 50 former LSU players in the NFL soon. Right now it looks like around 43 players playing in the NFL.
Totally agree. I also think Patrick doesn't have to be quite so big. He's not suffering in the speed department with the added bulk, but it will wear on his joints and corners can play a VERY long time if they stay dedicated to training and don't have major injuries. Darrell Green and Champ Bailey are some of many examples of this. Anyway, Patrick's bulk I think sometimes limits his change of direction. He's an amazing physical talent, and he has a tremendous confidence and swagger, but his technique isn't the most polished and he might benefit a bit from slimming down some. He could make for a wicked safety, which are also becoming more vital in the NFL. Mo's so smooth back there you almost don't appreciate just how athletic he is and disciplined in his play. Not until he's adjusted to the football in flight and becomes the receiver and not the defender.
Claiborne is a prototype NFL defensive back, physically. Matthieu is not. However his nose for the football and his special teams play will make him a success in the NFL.
Nope.........more on last years draft.......... NFL.com news: Newton still would be top pick, but other QBs rise in re-draft Gil??????????????
