On Dandy Dons website, its a quote from Les Miles, that Morris Claiborne is one of the fastest guys on the team.

This guy is listed as a backup to Peterson on the 2-Deep depth chart. Now all of the corners we have, how does this guy come in and just grab a spot like that. (rhetorical question) This guy must be really good.

Is this the results of effective recruiting by Les?
Also, did the recruiting services drop the ball on his evaluations?

Or is it the fact that he played QB and a few others positions in high school lead to services not being able to evaluate his true position?

Shep is fairly quick, but his strength isn't his speed. He's a very elusive player. He has a great ability to shift directions and make people miss. And he makes it look so easy. At least from what I could tell.

Miles has mentioned Shep "eating up lots of ground" a few times. He's way fast. Ciron Black said you only have to block for a second and he's 20 yards down field :thumb:

Yeah I wasn't saying he isn't fast, because he is. But when you see him run, to me anyway, the first thing I notice is how seemingly easily he avoids tackles. But yes, he's quick too. Slippery would be a good word. Part of what Miles and Black have said in the above quotes is attributed to that in some amount I'd imagine.

One thing's for sure. We've got some really special talent on this team and it's going to be fun to watch over the next few seasons.

“I’d love to be in the game with Russell and see what happens if we got out wide on an option play,” said Holliday, the 2009 NCAA national champion in the 100 meters. “He even keeps up with me pretty well.”

FYI, Claiborne was not listed in the 2 deep rotation on the last depth chart put out this past week.

As I understand it, the recruiting services were really late to get to Claiborne but Mike S. of rivals has said on different occassions he will easily be the best surprise out of LSU's incoming class this year.
