    Good for the Angels.

They have the best manager in all of the majors and they have a legit shot at winning it all....again.

Kotchman: .287 12 HR 54 RBI and not a rental

Texiera: .283 20 HR 78 RBI and is a rental

The Braves got a whole lot back in the now for someone they weren't going to have in a few months anyway.

    great trade for both teams

    no doubt

Tex now protects Vladdy, which is a big deal

i just knew this was going to happen since it seemed less likely. kotchman is a great glove at 1st and is starting to come into his own and a huge discount in comparison. just what the braves needed. And the angels said they were uninterested. Usually the team that needs the person less gets em it seems.

Plus the braves got him out of the NL.

stephen marek is apparently one of the angels top prospects and possible future closer.

nice snag by the braves methinks.

Interesting deal. Kotchman has loads of potential and is finally starting to hit for power--although I think more will develop over the next few years.

I wouldn't call Marek a top prospect, but it was certainly a nice throw in to go along with a talented, young firstbaseman.

The Braves got what they wanted. They coveted Connor Jackson and ended up getting a very similar player. The Angels got the big bat many think they needed in order to win it all this year. I guess it's a win/win (so long as Tex provides the run production the Angels need), but I think the Braves came out a little ahead here.

they recently moved him from a starter to the pen. now one of the top relief prospects. has control issues but looks like he may be on the way to correcting it.

3.66 ERA with 57/21 K/BB in 47 innings for Arkansas

the whole protection thing is way overblown imo.

    Big John Sickles fan?

I agree, especially when applied to Vlad, who will swing no matter where the pitch is.

Oh yeah, I forgot I was speaking of Vlad. He hits bad balls better than ones thrown down the middle of the plate.

    Disregard what I said. :hihi:
