i know! But what I am saying is that it is like 325-330 down that line that is not THAT shallow Some stadiums are worse Climate should have made it farther back, but I watched the game last night, and most those HRs were bombs that would have been gone no matter where the fences were
no dude, they do all these studies before designing any ballpark. they knew how the ball travelled and screwed up putting the fence that close. each parks effects are independent of the other. if they knew the average carry of a ball to right was 320 it was stupid to leave it there once they admitted it was an error.
climate or no climate, the ball flies out of there like it is denver. i think it alters the game too much when hrs are that easy.
the great american smallpark is just as bad in spite of the 10 scoreless innings today. both are way worse than coors. maybe the humidor is needed at those places.
Oswalt (5-3 3.11) comes off of DL to pitch tonight against Maddux. He last pitched on May 29 (later put on the DL June 6 with a back strain). Still waiting for Backe to come off DL. Hopefully these two plus Clemens will help the Stros make a second half run like last year.
speaking of maddux and his 325 wins or whatever (maddox is one of angelina jolie's litter), should the hall of fame lower the standard number of wins which automatically gets you in? I mean, there is pretty much never gonna be another 300 game winner with todays 5 man rotations minus an occassional one per decade or so once clemens, maddux and eventually glavine are done. likely not even that often if ever. randy johnson is like 50 and still isnt there after playing on a world series winner and the yanks for almost the last 10 years even though he gets in anyhow. i think the number of wins by clemens and maddux wont be viewed in proper perspective til many years down the road.
it is REALLY frustrating too, b/c they are like 2 solid guys away from being really good oh well... next year i suppose
dontrelle willis is 24 and could have nearly 60 wins by the end of the season... jake peavy is 25 and will also have around 60 at year's end Santana is 27 and will have 70 or so at year's end Zito is 28 and should have a little over 100 Sabathia is 25 and will have 80+ at year's end Mark Buerlie is 27 and will have 100 at year's end a few of these guys have got a shot if they can get on solid teams that is the thing: Willis, Santana, Sabathia are all on teams who stink Glavine, Maddux, and Roger were always on winners... On this list, I say Sabathia has the best shot to get to 300 though, b/c he is a horse The man to really watchout for though is Felix Hernandez he is 20 and has 10 already...
