No doubt about it. Manny is an incredible hitter, as is A-Rod. Both of them have stunning numbers at the plate. A-Rod is obviously a better fielder (the last couple of weeks excluded!), as the Gold Gloves don't lie.

I'm curious why Manny doesn't get quite as run as he probably should, as you're probably right about him being the best right handed hitter. It could be that I change the channel for virtually any Sox coverage, but I do think he's underappreciated.

Manny is only the third Sox player that I haven't hated, with the other two being Clemens and Boggs (and I really only liked him after he left the Sox, though greatly admired him when he was in Boston.)

Its tough to compare the two defensively though. Manny has a better career fielding percentage, but that's a bit mis-leading, because A-Rod has nearly triple the number of attempts. If A-Rod continues playing like he has been, the two gold gloves he has, will be the only two he'll ever get though.

    it's b/c of his attitude...

the whole "Manny being Manny" crap...

the media tends to look down upon guys like that, no matter how good they are, and no matter how much they back up their talk...

hence T.O. who has the career #s of a hall-of-fame receiver, but no one ever gives him any dap at all

Big difference between Manny and TO. TO likes to be a prick.Manny rarely speaks in public. He's just a goofy guy that does goofy things. Most of the time, it looks like he doesn't even know theres a game going on around him. Until he steps into the batters box. Also, he plays that wall in Fenway better than anyone has in a long time. He's consistently in the top handful of out fielders in assists.

he rarely talks? He sends out 2-3 press releases a week in the offseason saying he is "done" in Boston, and that he is demanding a trade

He's only done that once, and it was more about his lack of privacy in Boston than anything else. Your boy on the other hand, is probably the best WR in the game, but he seems to be making a habit of burning bridges everywhere he goes.

Thank you Bob Wickman. I finally feel slightly good about leads heading into the 9th inning now.

4 1/2 out of the wild card with only 3 teams now in front of us. Huge 3 game series with the Mets coming up this weekend. I have tickets to the Friday and Saturday games...I can't wait.

Wickman has WICKED good stuff... he has been lights out... I'm liking what I'm seeing in the Wild Card... The reds aren't as good as their record indicates. I think Atlanta should catch them rather soon, especially if Scherhultz adds another reliever or 2 like the AJC says he will

I've heard numerous times a Betemit for Farnsworth deal with the Yanks... Farnsie hasn't been that great in NYC this year, but he was great for us last year. He and Wickman would be a GREAT back end to the rotation

You're a lucky man! I'd LOVEEEEEEE to be at Turner for that series... the series with the Marlins has been playoff-like crowds, so I know it'll be rocking for that one.

The best matchup is Sunday with James and Glavine. James has been considered a poor man's glavine for a long time

Well, Betemit is gone, and honestly, I'm pretty up[set about it. I would much have rather seen Giles go, but I guess the bullpen will get some help.
