New York Yankees: Sabathia, Pettite, Burnette, Chamberlain Boston Red Sox: Beckett, Lester, Dice-K, Buchholz Detroit Tigers: Verlander, Washburn, Jackson, Porcello Los Angeles Angels: Lackey, Weaver, Kazmir, Saunders Philadelphia Phillies: Hamels, Lee, Happ/Blanton, Martinez St. Louis Cardinals: Carpenter, Wainwright, Paneiro, Smoltz Los Angeles Dodgers: Wolf, Billingsley, Kershaw, Kuroda/Padilla Colorado Rockies: Jimenez, Marquis, Cook, De La Rosa I like the Cards staff best, followed closely by Boston and Philly.
Jimenez has actually come into his own quite nicely. But yes, the staff overall is mediocre. Not sure what happened to Cook, but he isn't as good as he was.
Beckett's been off his game for 2 months, Lester is hurt and Dice-K is just coming off an extended injury. You really like that staff better than the Yanks'?
Beckett will rebound when his number is called come playoff time. He always does. Not aware of the injury to Lester. If that's the case, then of course I would not list them in the top 3 units. Dice K looked pretty solid his first or 2nd start back.
He took a line drive to the left (?) quad on Friday. They weren't sure how long he'd be nursing the deep bruise.
