areed, you mighta given up a little too early Cardinals just scored 4 in the bottom of the 8th to go ahead 5-3 over the Brew Crew. I'm not a LaRussa fan, but this may be the best job he has ever done as manager.
Unfortunately the brewers remaining schedule is much much easier than that of the Cardinals. Well, St. Louis still has a chip and a chair. Still a chance.
gotta rub it in. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/28/sports/baseball/28yankees.html?em "Joe Girardi, the Yankees’ manager, said his team hit some hard foul balls." --you should be proud, joe. " he said it was “not the end of the world” for the Yankees to lose the series. --sure about that, joe? “no hole is too deep to climb out of,” Girardi said. " ---really?
thats awesome. yankees, the team of $250 mill payroll and moral victories. you cant make that stuff up. looks like they hired the wrong part of the marlins front office. cashman is done.
And well he should be. All this time, Torre would take the fall, when it was Cashman who signed overpriced sluggers who they didn't need, while bypassing pitchers.
The Rays are 1-5 in September. Now only lead by 1 1/2 games. Next 13 games against the Sox, Yanks and Twins, the teams chasing them in the division and Wild Card. Is this a meltdown or in hurricane terms a "jog" in the wrong direction?
Astros have won 11 of 12 and are only 5 games back of Milwaukee. Easy schedule the rest of the way with 11 of 17 at home. Interesting. Roy Oswalt tearing it up like he always does after a slow start to the season.
Astros on the verge of being only 3 1/2 back of the Brewers for the wildcard, with a game coming up tonite vs the lowly Pirates. Pretty incredible turnaround.
