    doubtful at best

They have a pretty good grip on the division right now, I don't think they want to (or could) handle the media backlash/circus that would follow if they picked up Bonds. I think they'd prefer to be that team nobody knows about.

Did you catch Bonds last weekend when he appeared at the Giants ceremony honoring past players? The guy is in total denial. He said something about "Im not retired" and took a cheap shot at Torre saying "I can beat you again".

San Fran is the only city in the country where Bonds wont get unmercifully booed off the field. No way anyone touches him and his enormous baggage. He's pretty much black balled by MLB and even though he wont admit it, he's as retired as you can get.

I didn't understand the whole "I can beat you again" thing. What was he referring to? His Pittsburgh Pirate days?

I have no idea what he was talking about. When did Pittsburgh play the Yankee's with Bonds and beat them? Same for San Fran, it never happened as far as I can recall.

It must have been a roid induced brain fart coming from Bonds.

The Red Sox just got Paul Byrd. That's a huge, huge get as he is a solid innings eater.

    7-10 with a 4.5 ERA.

With the Sox lineup scoring 6-7 runs per game for him, that could be 10-7 easily had he been in Boston all year.

Good pick up. And of all people, Scott Van pelt has been the one saying the Sox should go and get him for weeks now.

Is it possible Wakefield becomes bullpen when he gets back?

I always thought he would be filthy in the pen, because he will be so different than the starter.
