you're right (sorta) Ray Schalk caught 4 in the early 1900's, but one of the 4 has since been taken off the official books (pitcher lost the no-no in the 10th). From what I gather, MLB once called 9 innings a no-hitter (regardless of if game goes into extras or not), but since has defined it as a "complete game".
Hey tirk, are we gonna get a bonified SP in a trade this year? Maybe Greg Maddux, I would take him at this point. Once Wanny comes back, we just need 1 more pitcher.
Unrelated to the 'Stros, the Clayton Kershaw and Jay Bruce eras are beginning. Kershaw got his first start this weekend, and Bruce will be called up tomorrow. We'll finally see if these kids were worth the hype.
Batista just served up # 499 to Manny 3 run opposite field shot to tie the game and yes tirk, he did pose for it.
Astros appear to be in this for the long haul. Just too much hitting that appears to be overcoming their pitching deficiencies. Wandy comes back and pitches tonight, which means we can put Sampson in the pen (Moehler stays in the rotation, where he has been solid). With Pence, Wigginton and Bourn hitting now, this lineup is lethal (except for Towles, who hasn't had an RBI in over a month). Bourn (80-100 steals) Matsui (30-45 steals) Tejada (130 Runs, 120 RBIs) Berkman (triple crown?) Lee (140 RBIs) Pence (100 RBIs, .350 BA) Wigginton (solid #7 hitter) Towles ???? hopefully Towles returns to the form of last September and early this season.
I heard sports 610 this morning, comparing Towles BA to pitchers. They were saying, "You know what Towles is like?...A pitcher!" He swings at bad pitches, and isn't patient." I really don't know what to say about him, He's only here because the team is hitting well around him. Let us struggle, and he'll be back in the AAA ball quick.
