They are trying to get a live tiger on campus. Plans to add a live tiger at Missouri games dividing student groups - Big 12 Blog - ESPN it was pretty insulting yesterday when PTI ripped them for wanting a live tiger, and said anyone that wants a live tiger on campus is basically a moron. they mentioned nothing of LSU, and that we have Tigers for ages. So Clemson Tigers steal Tiger Rag, and name their stadium Death Valley, next Missouri Tigers want a live Tiger on campus. Whats next, is Auburn going to change their colors to Purple and Gold? That actually wouldn't surprise me.
Thats what happens when your one of the best, others want to be like you. I'm not sure on this one but I think we actually stole Clemsons "Death Valley". We were Deaf Valley. Not completely sure on this one, but I am sure John can straighten it out with the facts.
I wanted to email PTI and tell them that there's never been an incident of a student or bystander being killed by any of the Mikes, but I wasn't sure of that fact. I know there was the time when some troubled university worker locked himself between the two fences of the old enclosure. Don't think he got hurt. Also found a story on the 'net about an incident in the 60's or 70's when someone opened the gate and Mike took a walking tour of campus. Once again, no mention of any injuries, much less deaths.
he didnt. that happened when i was at lsu and was unfolding as i was walking to my car one evening. i just stood there watching like "you gotta be freaking kidding me". holding a tiger hostage was not something that would have crossed my mind.
Well....Actually the song was stolen by Clemson. They stole it from the Original Dixieland Jazz band, who, in turn may have stolen it from other New orleans musicians around 1917. I'm sure that the song referred to LSU originally despite Clemson's claim. Tiger Rag - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
FIRST OF ALL, I DON'T CARE SO IF I AM WRONG, PLEASE DO NOT FLAME ME!!!!! I read the WIKI article and a lot of others. I found a very good article on LSU fight songs, and it talked about (I AM OPENING MYSELF UP FOR CRUCIFICATION HERE SINCE I DON"T REMEMBER THE EXACT NAME) the TOUCHDOWN LSU song from the 20's that is still the official fight song and Huey Long co-writing it and all that, but it did not mention Tiger Rag until the 50's or 60's following a move back to marching band from a previous move back to a more concert band...although there were hints that the Touchdown LSU song was based loosely on TIGER RAG. I went to YOUTUBE, listened to several versions and at least, I don't hear it. The Clemson version dates from 1942 according to the Clemson Traditions web site, when their band leader found the sheet music in a music store in Atlanta. It is not a big deal, and it was fun researching. The origin of the song, in NO, is undisputed. But I could find nowhere mentioning football in the origin. Just something to do on a cold wet winter afternoon and evening. Geaux Tigers
Relax, no flame intended...sorry if it was implied. I was talking past you to any Clemson claimants out there. No offense intended from this end. (I come from a line of Navy Captains...So I have respect.)
