Yeah LSU will have to move fast to get someone to take over. I wonder if Porter would be under consideration for the position? Or do we hire another TE coach that can take over the position instead? Just like Henson did for LSU. Keep in mind, WWL was pretty much saying Orgeron to LSU. FWIW. The other question in all of this was what I brought up in the original post. It does appear that Henson was indeed put off by the attempted hiring of Orgeron and either taking over as recruiting coordinator or sharing in it's duties. Misfire on Miles' part in hindsight, if true.
Shouldnt have said a done deal...but they are reporting he is going. Also, apparently he wasnt happy with his progression at LSU. He has been TE coach for 4 years and really wanted the OL job when they gave it to Stud. Also, he didnt like that LSU was after Coach O especially with the $600K offer. Also hearing that if Coach O would have been hired, Porter was looking at the door as well. People seem to think Porter doesnt want the recruiting coordinator job...dunno...this is all just talk
Not sure if this info is up-to-date but I heard about 4 days ago that if Henson takes the Mizzou job that Tony Hughes of USM would be the leading candidate. We were looking at him a few weeks ago when we had openings. I would love this hire because he has the same recruiting areas as Henson does now and is at least equally as successful in recruiting.
Some say Orgeron wouldnt of been have as good as he was at Ole Miss with recruiting if it wasnt for Hughes, I think that would be a smart move.
TE, when he arrives on the LSU campus :hihi: Bottomline, their isn't much to do with the TE coaching, it just goes with the territory of recruiting coordinator at this time at LSU. I suspect that would continue with Hughes. FYI, Hughes was the mastermind behind the DeAndre Brown recruitment. That should open up some eyes on here.
Hughes would actually be an upgrade over Henson. If he came to LSU, I would actually be embarrassed by how awesome thos offseason has been for us. But then I'd get over it...
