You're right. I don't know why I can't remember you can't have more than 2 teams from the same conference. Probably b/c I think it's a stupid rule.:hihi: The rose had the first at-large pick, then the sugar b/c they both lost a team to the NC game. Can't remember the pecking order after that. Anyway, Mizzou got screwed.
We lived in Columbia for 2 years and are Mizzou fans on "some" days...our best friends are there and I had a LENGHTY discussion with them last night in attempt to bring rational thoughts back to focus...They haven't been here in recent memory so it makes no sense at 1st, but by explaining if LSU had lost the SEC we would be at the Cotton bowl or similar with TN and Georgia sittin' pretty they began to see the light...just like last year when we got the Sugar without playing in the SEC game...its about luck as much anything else...and that can be painful when your on the outside looking in. I really feel for them...as its been said, it could have been us. I was holding my breath as the clock ticked down and Perrilloux fell on the ball!
I concur with everyone so far. Mizzou got screwed and penalized for making their own confernce championship game. They would have been better off had their season ended immediately after they beat KU. I love the Rose bowl and the tradition of it all but right now they are screwing college football to a large degree. A huge part of the reason that we do not have some sort of football playoff in DI is the Rose bowl committee. USC is going to destroy Illinois and Illinois fan will know it and probably not come in the numbers another team would have brought. A better situation would have been USC v Georgia, Mizzou v Hawaii and the rest of the bowls stayed intact with Illinois going to the Cap I or something like that. Brutal hose job for Mizzou. I feel for them today.
:champs: Absolutely! No way should Illinois be in a BCS Bowl over Mizzou! Mizzou should have also been in before Kansas, whom they smoked. It's really unfortunate that Missouri got punished so harshly for losing their Conference Championship game. Kansas and Illinois didn't even play in one and got rewarded for it.:geauxtige
This happens pretty often (even happened to LSU two years ago), but it's never been this egregious. Missouri beat Kansas just over a week ago! Kansas hasn't beaten anyone all season. Their schedule was nearly the worst in all of division 1A! Shame on the Orange Bowl for selecting Kansas. Are their fans expected to travel much better than Mizzouri's or something? Also, the Rose Bowl's selection of Illinois was pretty lame, too. USC-Georgia could have been a heck of a game. As it turns out, none of the BCS games look all that appealing, save ours. :thumb:
