I don't see how an offensive squad made up of almost all redshirt freshmen and sophs, beating a Wisc. team filled with 5th yr seniors is struggling with ranked opponents. I get what you're saying, but that's why I advocate running the score up as much as possible... people say they don't matter but that's horseshit. Style points gets you a better post season.
Until you lose. Every year, everyone loves Oregon. Then they get their annual ass beating and slide to the bottom. Despite all the yards, points, etc.
19-13 LSU offense struggles, avg. 2.5 ypc.... prescott runs between the 20's and welter makes 4 tackles. people bitch because he doesn't make 6...
Which is why I said simply counting on winning isn't going to cut the mustard. Sure it'd be great if LSU could win every game but that doesn't happen very often. CLM will eventually forget to pump his shunt and we get an ole miss or r- kansas or an auburn great white shark bite right in the ass. Then you have to rely on some slick "we haven't lost in regulation" bullcrap. My point is if you make a statement, stomp some serious ass, then when you slip (because it happens) they say "well, we know this team is better than that because we have seen what they can do" whereas if you continue to eek by (yes I know homerville it hasn't happened yet) this is speculative; then the media will say "well, they shouldn't have been ranked that high to begin with, they just don't have it" See my post about how quickly LSU gets put on **Upset Alert** for proof. You know that is exactly what would happen given the circumstances.
Two points: It is rare to go undefeated and have two undefeated teams meet in the final game. Not losing in regulation wasn't bullcrap. On one hand you cite "style" points, yet completely disregard the "style" that was NOT LOSING IN REGULATION....... AKA a few bad plays...You know, just like you just described! Well what you are describing is the BCS. You'd be silly to think the committee doesn't use the BCS as a factor. In fact, I'd bet it lines up exactly with the BCS top 4. Last point. The west has damn near ever team ranked. Like. If you win the HARDEST division in FOOTBALL, HOW ON EARTH DO YOU NOT HAVE RESPECT?????? Think back to Bama 2011. Its not about the wins as it will be about, who and how you lost. Because lets face it, at least half of the top 4 will have a loss. There will not be 4 12-0 teams going into the playoff. It is going to come down to, just like in 2011, who has the better loss.
It is rare, which makes it all the more maddening that it could have happened for LSU more times than once, a few seasons actually if the dude you guys worship as if he were God himself didn't have his head completely up his ass for a few games a season. Sure you will have something witty and cute to say and thats all well and good but facts are facts. Hard to go undefeated, absolutely, impossible? No. Not even expected but when you snatch defeat from the jaws of victory well... Very true, but it happens look dude, I'm not saying you are wrong, a lot of what you have has merit, but to cite your 2011 reference, lets reverse the sides and say that bama wins that game in the regular season, do you honestly think for a second that LSU even sniffs the championship game? The freaking gumps got in there because of who they are and who their head coach is and that is the bottom line. If that scenario is reversed there is no way in hell anyone puts LSU in that game.
Exactly, because LSU is the biggest threat to what they hold near and dear. Anything that stands to tarnish that image must be silenced.
