Nobody expected him to be. He obviously can't run the ball so better protection is crucial. I had hoped the he would have learned to have better pocket awareness
I’m not worried about the offense it will come around with reps but those DB’s will get shredded this year. We scored enough to win but our defense is too flat footed for SEC play.
If that’s the case, then some... or actually a whole bunch of losing should be in store for you know who. We got beat. In every phase. There’s your “karma”. No offense to you but I disagree with the karma take.
I don't disagree, but when would Brennan have actually developed that pocket awareness? He has never really played here. The other thing that seemed obvious is that it doesn't appear that he spent all summer throwing balls to his WRs like Burrow did last year. It became obvious yesterday why Chase opted out. Sadly, he saw the writing on the wall, and frankly, LSU should've grabbed Costello for ourselves (or a transfer like him.) That seems to be the wave of the future for getting a mature QB. It certainly worked wonders for us a year ago.
Well said; I completely agree. Something else to keep in mind, and I'm not sure if anyone else has said this - Brennan not only didn't have spring football, he (and this goes for the entire team) didn't have the luxury of cupcake opponents to open the season, where teams can work out the kinks. This mostly inexperienced Tiger team was immediately thrown into the fire against an SEC opponent. Sure, I know every team has had the same issues due to COVID; however, how many teams are replacing 20 starters, while at the same time, acclimating to new coordinators? Hopefully, the defense will come around under Pelini, and the offense, without Brady, as well.
