We are young everywhere except most of the OLine some LB and DL and RB's minus Fournette and Williams.
And, yet, Miles has only lost to him once. For that matter, LSU hadn't lost to MSU in my 8th grader's lifetime (and before). She didn't think such a thing was possible.
The ascension of the Mississippi schools is another demonstration of the greatness of the SE and the SEW in particular. Other conferences have 1 or 2 teams that rise to the top in an era. Look at the ACC only FSU is a serious contender; in the Big 12/10 only Okla has been around as no one has replace Tx. In the Big 10& Pac 12 ...well nuf said . The SEC has had 5 different teams gain national championships since 1998 and may add a 6th this year. Most of the time two teams were competing; such as 2006,7 &8 when LSU & Fla traded then 2009-12 when LSU, ALa & Aub competed. When one team slips another one or two rise up to replace them. The depth and breadth of the competition is what make it special. Even this year when we are down we have held up against all comers outside of the SECW. The competition has made us all better.
This is one year. Miss. State has been building this team for three years now. Next year State will be decent but this is their year.
Yes indeed!!!!!!!!!! Rebs still have a long way to go. Can you imagine OM/MSU number 1 and 2 in the Egg Bowl? The bitch being that the loser does not go to the SECCG. And probably not the playoff. But we still have a small school called "LSU." Wouldn't it make your season to beat the Rebs? Plus we got AU, Tenn, Ark, and MSU. I do not really fear "the hat." LSU scares the hell out of me.
If there is an undefeated egg bowl and a close win by either team and the winner wins the SEC in Atlanta I wouldn't count the loser of the Egg bowl out if that's their only loss. As far as making my season I've never had the disdain for Ole Miss that my dad and grandad did, but it would be nice for a quality win in conference play against a ranked opponent. What's interesting about the Ole Miss MSST comparisons is MSST is loaded with leadership, and experience sprinkle some talent in there, Ole Miss on the other hand has far more young talent, but has less senior leadership. I do think that Ole Miss definitely has a better chance to sustain this success than MSST does after this season into the future. Before the season I asked the question is Bo Wallace the best qb in the SEC now because Mettenberger, McCarron, Manziel, Murray and Shaw all left. Prescott has played better but Wallace hasn't been a turnover machine like he was early in his career (sans Boise state) Enjoy it man
