Lee was the most ready when a QB was needed. Jefferson in the coaching staffs eyes is the most ready now. The coaching staff was obviously trying to RS Jefferson last year and he obviously wasn't ready to play. Lee was the only choice until Jefferson was brought up to speed. I'd like to see Lee play some this season however the coaching staff seems to feel that playing Jefferson gives us the better chance of winning. It's a much easier decision when you have 2 QB's ready to play and need to make a choice. This is the second season in a row that we don't have any ready.

something was pointed out the other day i never considered.

who did we have between flynn and perrilloux? no one. was there a recruiting gap there that wasnt addressed? should there have been a qb between the two being groomed to take flynn's place? someone a year ahead of rp?

how do you have someone ready and waiting that just the year before had been a true freshman? sure they could play some but it was rp that was being readied for the starting position to take over from flynn. i can see how once rp got onto the field as starter you start readying someone to take his place. i seem to remember at spring practice last year when it was becoming obvious rp was having serious "ethical issues" all the other qbs got serious time and rushed into taking over. but the championship season was for getting rp time and ready to take over.

rp screwed us pretty bad. but not having someone between him and flynn may have screwed us too.

You're right, you're not alone. Therein lies part of the problem as well.

Agreed. It's not just his problem though. I think a large portion of the fanbase feels the same way. This just contributes to the negativity surrounding the team when they can't measure up to these grossly unrealistic expectations.

For the record, I don't want to see JL as the started, but I would like to see him come in for a few series a game, just to see what he can do. I'm usually optimistic and think last year for him was an abysmal anomaly. Give him a chance to see if he's learned anything. If he throws a pick 6 that's truly his fault, send him to the bench.

Speaking of that, I know last year's interceptions were mostly JL's fault. The pick 6 against AU comes to mind. But of the picks that he threw (not necessarily the pick6's, just picks in general), I wonder how many of those were due to a tip that a receiver should've caught or that was caused because the WR ran the wrong route or something to that affect.

So you're saying expecting the offense to improve from last season was unrealistic? That's simply crazy talk.

It's a simple comparison totally relevant to the thread, lsudimwit.

We get it. You are dissatisfied with everything about Miles. But, could you limit your whiney bull$hit to one thread instead of contaminating the entire front page?

I don't think the expectations for this season were completely unrealistic. Look at our recruiting classes the last few seasons, and look at the current weapons and talent we have. We should not lose more than 2 games on any given year with a roster like ours. And we definately should not be in a position where 31 points against Washington/ Miss State is season highs.
We have too much going for this team to be in the position we are facing yet again this season. Now it's IF we do this, IF we do that... we should be DOING them and not holding out for the IF's. I'm not sure what it'll take but LSU football is better than how we're playing.

I was referring to your grossly inflated expectations of an undefeated season, not an improvement on offense.

Then we agree to disagree. Anytime you EXPECT to go undefeated in the SEC, you're only setting yourself up for disappointment. Is it impossible? No, but it's extremely difficult, as evidenced by the failure both of our latest National Championship teams. They were much more experienced then this year's team and they couldn't do it.

Anybody who had the expectation that we would go undefeated this season should be zapped with the ignore button.

And now you dismayed because the mere top-10 is unworthy. No wonder.
