I'm not aware of any NCAA rule that prohibits teams from being able to police a curfew. Can you expand on that?
Sure, when all players were in the same dorm on campus, it was very easy to police a curfew. Like I said, the LSU team stays together before home games just for this problem of curfew. The coaches I know, would like it the old way. Bring back Broussard Hall........
There's a rule about how much time the coaches can spend with the players. I believe that's what he's referring to. I heard Rich Rod on the radio talking about it the other day, in reference to the Miami deal.
I'm pretty sure that refers to time actually coaching players and is why Richrod got in trouble at Meechigan. He didn't get them in trouble by making sure they were all tucked in bed.
Punishment for violating curfew shouldnt be anything more than some extra running after practice and maybe a threat that one more screw up and you will sit. If it was "Just Violating Curfew" it wouldnt be on ESPN and maybe not even on this board What is your opinion as to what it should be, and if you decide to answer that, what is your opinion on Thomas's punishment for his "alleged" actions
Best punishment imo for minor team violations is tons of extra conditioning, and lifting heavy a$$ weight in the weight room. Exhaust the players to the point of not even wanting to go out, and on the flip side your teams 4th quarter play increases tremendously, as their wind is better than their opponents. It's a win win.
Nah, NC had starter after starter after starter out for that game. I think it was almost a dozen of them (it definitely approached 12 players that would have had a potential impact on the game). With LSU, we're talking about a struggling QB, and a lineman and LB who won't see the field, and a true freshman WR that won't see significant PT for a few games into the season.
Sorry for stepping into your conversation. This Duck's opinion is that curfew violations are your coach's concern. Any action against JJ or the other 3, is also your coach's call. If the information to make a decision isn't out by game time, I still say it's Miles call. If Miles decides JJ plays, good enough, we want no excuses. Thomas has not gotten into any trouble at all. So no punishment is warranted. He has been in close proximity to trouble 3 times, makes me wary. Hopefully Chip has been all up in his face about this. Remember these latest reports are about something that happened last spring. Kelly saw the police video in April, and has known all about this for months. Go Ducks
