Not sure how much of that was out of necessity but seemed like even after Ware was good to go, he kept feeding Hill. Paid huge dividends. Hard to believe a kid that can run like he did would not have seen PT had it not been for the way things have been going down. Speaks well to our reserves and coaches for having them ready- as the Oline tweaks. For all the hell he took, our LT did one helluva job last night.
Blocking was tremendously better last night, which made a huge difference. Hill does give better break away speed.
Where was Shepard besides special teams? Doghouse? Those goal line plays with a fake or non fake handoff to a motioned #10 would have thrown uSC off key. Dude was invisible last night.
Actually he had several plays where he made a key block on runs and was the decoy for one nice run. He came in motion and Mett faked to him the handed to Ware (I think). You could see the SC defense flow to Shep for a step or two. Look guys the TEAM works together to win the game. This game we owned SC where Shep would be a factor. In the red zone it is too tight for his skill. He contributed in important ways and to be fixated on whether one guy does something or has his number called losses sight of that.
Shep is a role player on this team. Whether we failed to utilize or develop his talent or he's unteachable we will never know. But the shep ship seems to have sailed. I think partly les subconsciously hates small guys.
He played that beautifully and the Carolina defense bit on it completely. Shepard also plays hard and smart on special teams. Not sure why he didn't see the ball last night, but the guy was damn sure playing football out there. We will run the same play against A&M and Shepard will take the ball around the end for 15 or 20.
Damn right Red, he hasn't lived up to the hype, and statistically has been a disappointment, but what he brings to this team cannot be denied. He is a leader, and works his ass off on every play. I have the utmost respect for this kid and for whoever raised him. A lot of guys in his shoes would have given up and mailed it in. 10 represents everything that is great about LSU and college football.
