Wow, what changed his mind finally...maybe that we can't run the ball. Glad you woke up Miles. Lets go kick some A$$!

Changed his mind on what? That running is not an important fundamental? He says: "I still want to run the football. It's too fundamental to me not to be important."

Like Miles said a week ago in his presser, the offensive play calls are designed to explolit the weaknesses of what the D is showing you. Every coach does this. If you load the box against any team, they are going to throw. For example, last season, the Saints loaded the box against Adrian Peterson and we shut him down (he had like 38 yards rushing)... we challenged Gus Frerotte to beat us with his arm, and he did. Saints lost. And like against MSU, MSU stacked the box against us and forced JJ to beat them with his arm, and he did (he had his career-high passing game so far while at LSU).

To see is to believe. Last year after every game we were supposed to see changes but never did. Im hoping things do work for the best for LSU. The talent is there if the focus comes. As well as better player effort and coaching.

charles barbre asked a great question at the presser about using the pass to set up the run.

i was wondering b/c one of the major complaints from the anti lee/crowton crowd last year was that we were throwing too much especially on 1st down, i wasn't one of those complainers and i think we should be throwing more on first to free up the box a little.

"The reality of it is we should've protected him (quarterback Jordan Jefferson) better, and we should've thrown it for more," LSU coach Les Miles said at his weekly press luncheon on Monday. "We'll look to be more aggressive that way as we go forward".

Pretty significant statement, if it comes to fruition.

Although that statement might be misleading. Does he mean that we should have gotten more out of the few opportunities we took to go downfield (because we certainly weren't aggressive enough vs MSU in the passing game) or we should taken more opportunities?

If he only means the former, then it's status quo for what we've seen with this offense come Saturday (i.e., run it up the gut with 9 in the box and set up 2nd and 9).

Uh, changed his mind to throw on first down (1st offensive play in the 2nd half of MSU game, in I-formation). I'm pretty sure MSU thought he was gonna run in and well he made them pay for it. I agree with you (and most people here from what I've read) that game time adjusments are necessary and it seems that CLM has been "stubborn" in running it in situations that is hard to make a positive play because its our divine right to run the ball because were LSU and that's been our identity in the past.

However, I wish Miles could have said this on the field with play instead of in a article. Hell, he might just be setting up to run the damn wishbone for all I know.
