LSU coach Les Miles, who took what he thought was a clandestine trip to Dallas a year ago to lobby his team for the Cotton Bowl in case it lost the Peach Bowl, is not happy with West Monroe High defensive tackle Luther Davis. Miles has a policy that once you commit to LSU you can no longer take visits. -- thetowntalk.com
Either Miles has a policy of no visits or he doesnt. IMHO, he needs to trash that policy ASAP. If he did, articles like this dont happen. Miles is mad...so what? If there are no ramifications to the policy it doesnt matter that Miles is mad. If he had no such policy, this would be a non-story.
It would seem to me that the only policy Miles could have is one that states "If you shop around, we shop around". If a "commit" decides to shop around, it is only fair that CLM pull the offer, not permanently, but at least until the "commit" finally COMMITS. He can't just leave the offer out there while LD is shopping. He has a need to address, and must be allowed to shop, too. If he has no scholly to give, since he's currently offering it to someone else, it's hard for him to shop. I'd be willing to bet that is Miles policy, and that a lot of this is overblown.
if his policy is as hardline as it seems, then it's a dumb one, because he has signed several players, including our starting QB next year, after they committed to another school, then visited us.
I agree, and if we land Jason Peters in the next few days, can you guess whose scholarship gets pulled? You got it. It's pretty damn simple to me and a non story.
I take it you're refferring to Perrilloux? I don't think it's set in stone that he's the starter next year. In fact, I don't think it's even probable. Just IMHO.
What do these to statements have to with each other? Is it trying to imply that Miles is a hypocrite because he went shopping for a better bowl after he committed to one? If so whoever wrote this is a complete moron. Les Miles went to Dallas before the bowl selection had begone to try to get the Cotton to pick LSU if we lost the SECCG and did not go to the Sugar. (there were criticisms at the time because he was in Dallas instead of getting the team ready to play Georgia) The Cotton bowl has a higher priority than the Peach and would pick first anyway.
i thought crawfish wrote it, given the slap about the cotton bowl, which is totally unrelated to recruiting right now. and i agree that this is nothing more than an attempt to stir up some chit!
