Well deserved. I like LSU's chances even more when the 4-team playoff kicks in.

Kind of conflicted on this. As everyone knows I am one of the resident Les Miles sunshine pumpers as I realize no team outside of Bama has enjoyed the success we have had the last 6 years... I also know the Vagitigers will be up in arms and only further the "Fire Les Miles" crowd.
But I sure do like the fact we are not riding the coaching carousel every 4-5 years anymore. Following planes, etc etc.

So what is the truth. Did Arkansas extend an offer or not.....

Texas Tiger, Not sure it really matters if they "really" offered. Alleva said that Miles has not had a raise since the automatic one triggered by the 2007 National Championship Title. He said they have been working on a raise and extension and planned to announce it after the bowl game which makes sense to me.

The nonsense created by this supposed Arkansas offer just hastened the release of the news about a contract and extension.

I like the timing because it should positively effect recruiting. A 7 year extension will send a strong message to recruits and their families that Miles and his leadership (whether you like it or not) will be around.

Les is not the smartest guy i have ever seen however he happens to be what we are stuck with. I happen to think he should be the recruiting coordinator, as that seems to be the only thing he is conpetent at doing. Les should easily have minimum 3 national titles but you can t just fire a guy with his record..

Ya know, I don't know why fans are so down on Coach Miles. I was just looking at the list of coaches at LSU since 1893. At this point, he is the 2nd winningest coach we've had (going by coaches that coached at least 10 games), behind Edgar Winegard (1907-1908), who had a 17-3 record with a .850 winning percentage (this was only a 20 game season though). While Les has an overall (at LSU) 85-20 with around .830 with 3 division titles, 2 conference titles, and 1 national title. I don't think you will find a better coach for us at this point, and you will NEVER find one who doesn't make strange decisions and piss you off now and then. Regardless of some of his crazy decisions, I wouldn't want to lose Coach Miles and I am glad he is staying on and we can move on past this BS once again. I said it before and again here... if we ended up with another coach, you can bet your arse it wouldn't be a better situation than we have right now. We are consistently ranked in the top, and contenders for championship games.

Because they're idiots who think they're entitled to perfection.

Les Miles 1 NC vs Nick Saban 3 NC, 4th well within reach

This causes frustration. Especially when our offense is rated nearer the bottom of NCAA football again. Especially when really stupid plays or mishaps happen. When our defense starts to stutter at the exact time our offense starts to pick it up. When an amazing season, sans QB, is downgraded by an embarrasing performance in the NC game last year.

I am flumoxed by those who just don't understand how anyone could criticize Les Miles. He wins, but he wins ugly and tends to play down to his competition. His team sometimes shows a deer-in-headlights look when faced with adversity. We played a whale of a game against Bama this year and then our hurry up offense, when called on, does a belly flop.

Our direct competion is Bama, and Bama has the upper hand.
