He didn't admit the trip until he found out his brother spilled the beans. He admitted Sunday or Monday.

Just to add a little more fish smell to the story, originally it was an uncle's funeral and now it's a cousin's funeral according to the mammy.

Whats the big deal, the kid talked to Saban, LSU found out about and pulled his scholarship so he went to Alabama.

Good luck to him. In the grand scheme of things one recruit does not make a team.

I mean he was told he is not welcome at LSU anymore, so he went to the place that wanted him.
Cant blame a kid for that can ya ?

Well, if LD's mom disliked Saban so much (as his first interview following Saban's in-home visit with Davis), then why would she have even made that comment? I know if my son were recruited by a coach that I really disliked, I wouldn't be making excuses for my son if he was caught lying and got his scholarship pulled....

People, people....once and for all....the kid was NOT lying. Don’t yall know that going to bama campus (and especially their football games) IS like to going to a funeral???? Geez :dis: This kid is a genius I’m telling you, GENIUS! And for those who thinks I’m just being sarcastic…you’re wrong – I’m being dead serious.

    We have a selective memory.

    Ryan Perrilloux.

Its amazing how when someone does that in our favor "He realized he wanted to be a Tiger" When somone does it to us. We begin to question their integrity.

These are 18 year old kids guys. Remember back to when you were 18.

    Flame away.

Ryan Perrilloux never lied about taking a visit. He said that he was a solid commit to Texas, which was the truth - at that time, he was. He later changed his mind as many recruits do. Had this been the case with Luther, it wouldn't have been a real big deal.

Luther did not change his mind. Luther wanted to take a trip & thought he could get away with it by lying. He was exposed & yet continued to deny it, only admiting that he had in deed gone to Alabama after it became apparent that noone would believe him. He then had his scholarship offer removed.

OK, so, all of this "lying to the coaching staff" is coming from Mike S. That's how he is reporting it.

The conversation started last Saturday morning when a few of us were commenting on Davis and Blackwell being on campus at Alabama. I made a post here stating that word out of T-town was he had been seen there on a few occasions.

Mike S. reported he was told LD was at a funeral. Then (whether it was late in the day or the next day) Mike S. says he'd talked to LD again and LD admitted he was on campus.

Do you think that ticked off Mike S? I'm sure it did.

As to whether or not he lied to the LSU staff, I can't say one way or another...and, besides those that are quoting what Mike S. said, I suspect many of you are relying on his information more so than any other.

I look at this through my "logic test" and it doesn't fit. Am I to assume that your staff stopped in the middle of a recruiting weekend to call and see if LD was in T-town?

From my perspective, and I'll admit I very well could be wrong, it seems that Mike very well may have thrown the "lied to the staff" line just to appease (or inflame, your choice) the readership base.

All of this story came down within a 24 hour time frame...it just doesn't fit from where I'm sitting.

NO, this isn't a spin, or Crimson colored glasses...but it surely seems to be a comment that suddenly has become the truth.

Her comment came after the staff at LSU visited her after the Alabama visit. She said they were never told they couldn't visit or continued to be recruited. The "admonishment" they received didn't sit well with her...had nothing to do with the first visit.

Again, here's a situation where Mike S. reports someone didn't like Saban but, once again, it blows up and the "other side" of the story comes out.

As mentioned repeatedly, I understand there are a lot of people feeling ill-will towards Saban right now. Is it beyond the realm of possibility that that "ill-will" is also felt by Mike S. and that has over-whelmed his sense of journalistic integrity? You see it happen, and have seen it happen, for a long time now.
