He's been saying tons of things he would like RS to do in the game all year. I'd say it's about as likely as a space ship crashing in your front yard. Although it would make me extremely happy. RS throwing that is, we already have too many (illegal) aliens running around.

I wouldn't consider this a commitment to having him throw. He's just trying to keep all his options open and not let Saban know anything about his gameplan. Shepard will not see anything different in terms of types of plays. Mostly runs, and a couple plays at WR. I do really like the option with he and Jefferson.

Well, there you have it, folks. Sheppard will not be touching the ball this weekend.
Ugh. Jordan can't run the option to save his life.

Now, the option with Shep and Kieland. . .hmmm, that could be spectacular.

Nick would prepare for that regardless.

Not until he actually does though

His "options" are not governed by what he says or doesn't say at pressers.

    And then some.

Every DC we have faced has had to plan for Shepard throwing the ball. The DB's have to stay in coverage until he crosses the line of scrimmage. But Bama has video of his passing, so they won't know how his passes look or what his tendencies are.

I agree. He won't surprise anyone. But he's a big enough threat in the open to make the LBers respect his legs and desire to get to him before he gets his groove on.

I think the bigger value of him finally throwing a pass or two is that he can do the Tebow-esque fake step, then drop and hit Dickson or Lafell/Toliver on a quick slant behind the flinching LBers.
