Reading comprehension bro. It will clear things up. Noone is saying they want an easier schedule. What everyone wants is a system that does not favor certain teams. You can frame your statements however you like, but the cross division permanent opponents favor some teams and hurt others. I mean shit, someone gets to play Vanderbilt every year. Someone has to play South Carolina every year. Which team has a better shot at a win?
I love the history of college football. I understand you wanting to keep your historic rivals, but some things have to change. OK and Neb had a huge historic rivalry, when their conference went to two divisions, they ended it. We ALL deserve a fair shot at the divison title, and it's not a fluke that the teams with the easiest cross division opponents went to the SECCG I hear you saying that it's cyclical and tenn isn't allways this bad, but in the last 30 years, even when tenn is a good team, fla's been better overall.
We had an annual game with in-state traditional rival Tulane for decades, but we had to drop it when the SEC went to 7 games. We had Texas A&M annually for decades but had to drop them when the SEC went to 8 games. Tennessee may be a holy game to you, but it is meaningless to 13 other teams and if they think it hurts them, it will simply have to go. No one suggests that you can't play Tennessee again, just not every year. Your rivalries are not "Special" in some way. If it is for the good of the league, it has to go.
Well, 12 teams. Never-the-less, the point is it's special to our schools. No disagreement, as stated, that if it's good for the conference it's time to move away from the annual rivalries. Florida is one year and one hire away from being in the same situation UT was in last year and vice-versa. It's a cyclical game.
I'll never agree that the better team won the '11 championship. Bama had a better qb, and better o line. LSU had a far better everything else. If we had any resemblance of a qb, no contest. They all boast about shutting us out, really? You brag about shutting down Jordan Jefferson? Which SEC team didn't make Jefferson look like a turd? QB has been the difference.
