That sounds good if you say it real fast and don't finish looking at all the pairings. If you use this selection process #4 would play #4 twice in a given season. Heaven forbid they both turn there seasons around from the previous year and win their respective divisions. Can you say, "best two out of three in Atlanta"?
I know who their permanent opponents are, im just putting the info on what they said out there. Anyone with half a brain knows what's fair and what isn't. The SEC head office can bull sheet us all they want to, doesn't mean you have to buy what they're selling.
I'm sure you meant that sarcastically, but if not I see very little chance of either AD being supportive of losing the game. Now, if it's best for the conference in the long run? Sure, but it would be a decision made for the conference as a whole with regrets of losing the rivalry. Our AD, with history at both schools, certainly will want the tradition continued. UT's AD, with his degree from Bama, isn't going to want to see the game removed for each years schedule as well.
That suggestion was meant with 8 teams per division in mind. I should have been more specific in my post.
Neither made a comment either way in that article as far as I can see. They were talking mainly about going to nine games.
Exactly! Just what you would expect from newbies, they dodged the question. Dont expect any newbies or teams with wuss opponents (see Bama) to make waves.
wah; just play the damn games. if you beat good teams you get a bigger boost in the rankings and polls. if not, maybe you aren't NC material.
I suspect you aren't this closed minded. I can honestly say, I hope you aren't. Surely, you understand that the last few years with UT on a downturn has nothing to do with the desire to keep the "Third Saturday in October" on the yearly schedule. I've lived on both sides of the UT rivalry. When they had a winning streak against Bama, and multi-year winning streaks against Tennessee. In both cases, that weekend has been a highlight of the football season. One thing that does strike me. Seeing what Spurrier has to say about UT—"that's not fair to Tennessee"—makes me laugh. You know, if you're old enough to recall, the man has no feelings of empathy towards to the Volunteer program.
And surely you're not so closed minded as to believe that LSU drawing Georgia while Bama gets Mizzou isn't just luck of the draw. You have to wonder if the SEC head honchos would be as big on keeping these rivalry games if Tennessee was beating Bama every year. The smart money says no.
It was the type of sarcasm one displays when they know they have been getting fucked over and have given up on the problem being rectified.
