This is just an asinine comparison. Bama's "convincing win" happened when they finally pulled away from Va. Tech in the 4th quarter, without Tech's star RB. It was nip and tuck to that point. Florida beat up on a AA school, that doesn't convince me of anything. If that's the measuring stick we're using, is Tennessee also going to be a dominant team for blasting their AA cupcake? Vandy beat theirs 45-0, are they gonna dominate the East? Give me a freakin break.
It could have been worded differently but say what you want. We did hear the same thing last year. The only time we seen actual changes was during the Bowl game against Ga Tech. Granted this is a new year, so we shall see. I think the talent is there but the team needs to play with more intensity like in the past. Also LSU is horrible team at fundamentals on D which plagued us last year. The read and reacting, angles, and tackling are very subpar. The OL is far too talented to be manhandled like they were. That said a lot of what went wrong against Washington is very fixable. They just need faith in the players to go down the fiedl on O and let the DBs play up closer on D. I think we will see a different LSU team against Vandy.
Florida didn't score 70 and they let Charleston Southern score. Can't say I was impressed. Tigers got a road win against a BCS team. Sure, it wasn't the Arizona blowout, but I will take it. The team does have to improve to make noise in the SEC. That starts now. GEAUX TIGERS
Washington had better athletes and coaching than Arizona did. I'd never seen such a bad team as the one we spanked in '03 (and they weren't much better in '06.) I was impressed with Sarkisian. It might be interesting to see how Carroll fares without him.
A point to think of, not that we played anywhere near what I was hoping for, but UW's problem was not the lack of talented athletes. Their problem was they had quit on Ty. Now they have a great OC as the head coach. I would bet we end up seeing them in a much different lite in 5-6 weeks when they have 4-5 wins under their belt.
