It seems many get upset when Miles doesn't trash everyone on his team who makes a mistake in the post game interview citing he doesn't ever indicate that things need correcting.

    so how about this...

sounds to me like he will be sending a message to his team but the players will improve because of what's inside of them not because he's yelling at them. he believes in the maturity of his players.

    the whole story....

LSU Coach Les Miles likes victory but not performance at Washington - NOLA.com

Miles isn't that type of coach. He's a class guy.

Besides, who should he throw under the bus? He hired the coaches and he recruited/offered scholarships to these players.

A few tweaks here and there and we'll be fine.

Exactly. The areas that need work can be fixed. I think we'll be thankful for this game and facing Locker when we still have Tebow and Snead to contend with later...

I think a good deal of Miles' criticism boils down to what type of coach people prefer. I know a lot of people who like the fiery, in-your-face type that Saban is. Spurrier is another coach who NEVER hesitates to use the media to throw players and underlings under the bus. Getting in players' faces on the sideline or open criticism in interviews simply isn't Miles' style. And because he doesn't handle in-house issues publicly like that, people tend to assume that there's a lack of intensity and discipline enforcement.

The coachspeak that Miles indulges in reminds me a lot of President Bush :hihi:. I'd volunteer to translate into plain English Miles' non sequitors and incoherent phrases on occasion this year.

Please understand that the sarcasm of my translations will be meant for humorous purposes only and will not be intended as an intent to demean the hat. (Last time I did that, boy did I get negative rep.)

Okay, the players will try harder and do better. But the coaching sucked big time in the Washington game. The offense had too many 3 and outs, the defense gave up more yards to this team than we gave up to Florida last year. Despite the defense's sucking wind late in the game, our coaches lacked enough confidence in the subs to call on fresh players to help when needed. Nor were Russell Shepard or Reuben Randle called to see playing time, though the offense could have used a spark OF SOME KIND! I wonder whether our coaches are up to the standard of winning in the SEC. Compare the convincing wins played by Bama and Florida, and the contrast is striking. These were their first games, too. I hope we don't have a repeat of last year. IF we do, I hope LSU can make some Big decisions in the coaching ranks. With talent like we have, our boys should be playing much better than they have.

miles doesnt throw anyone under the bus. coaches or players.

"You had coaches who were encouraged to take naps," he said, an incredulous note in his voice. "Guys were forced to approach game week in a very different way...

..."I had to wake Chavis up by the beginning of the second quarter...Chief, you're supposed to nap before the game !!!!"

"The reality is it's not quite good enough, not good enough for us," he said. "I promise you this: This football team will go back and by the nature of the people on it, not the nature of the alarm that the coach is going to send, but by the fact they want more this year, this will be a nice start and we'll look forward to getting ready for Vandy."...

..."My players are hoping that the Vandy coaches confuse us with the other purple and gold team when they look at the game film. This will really help in our preparations !!!"

    :).
