Miles should have went to bat for his team and came down hard on the officiating much like Meyer and Kiffin but chose not to.

It would accomplish nothing and cost him money.

while i would have loved to have seen him do that, i understand why he didnt.

most people think of the being fined aspect of speaking out about the officiating. but being suspended is another threat slive has made. and i fully expect the next coach to speak out will be made an example of by being suspended. meyer got fined, so the next step in silencing the critics will be suspension. i fully understand miles not wanting to get suspended, and would rather he not get suspended.

however, we do need an ad that has some cajones and will do it for miles and the team.

Actually what he said after the game was the best thing he could have said. Not exact, "having to explain it to the team and the player who believes in his heart that he made the play, that is the hard thing." Saying that the refs muffed it up and trying to make his players and Peterson have to swallow that pill is his biggest concern. Complaining about the call isn't going to change the outcome of the game, but making his team and players know that the opportunity to win was there, and taken away.

It's called "taking the high road" - the road CLM routinely travels with class, unlike some of his SEC coaching brethren.

Sorry i think he should have gone to bat for his team, and for this fanbase. It would have accomplished alot. It would have united this team and fanbase like no other event in the past 2 years. Hell even if he would have been suspended he would have been a Martyr and it would have been awesome.

I think Miles missed an opportunity here, because the SEC and Mike Slime aren't going to do anything to change the officials unless the coaches, universities, and media rip into his ass, and continue to rip into his ass. To hell with the fines. 30 grand for Les Miles is nothing, i bet the fanbase would have helped raise it also.

It ain't about the fines to the smart coaches like Les and Nick who don't comment on the refs. It's about NOT annoying or humiliating the SEC referees. Disgruntled refs making $500 a game have a way of making prima donna millionaire coaches pay for it in little ways for a long time. Kiffen talking bad about officials to make his teenaged, crybaby internet fans happy is an example of being . . . really stupid.

The bad call is done. It won't be changed. Think about the future.

Of course it would accomplish nothing in terms of something being done about the officiating in the conference.
Financially the fine would be a drop in the bucket with the money he makes.

I just think after saturday's game after your team fought as hard as it could and was robbed at a chance to maybe march down the field and win the game not to mention some of the other calls that he should have stood up for his team.

why? to take a fine and look like a whiner knowing full well the SEC will do NOTHING complaints or not?

the visual evidence and the media's slowly sniffing this story as the season goes on is proof enough.

i'm glad miles took the high road and really the people on the radio who lost respect for him because he didn't make an ass of himself really need to stop.

he and his staff review the plays and send them in to the SEC office.

he said in his PC that the refs on the field had an obstructed view of the play, that basically it was on the replay ref and he decided to defer to what the call on the field was which was an incomplete pass.

they got it wrong, but the high road is the place to be because this isn't some call in a cupcake game that no one saw. a lot of people saw this game saw this call and are starting to put together theories.

miles raising hell wouldn't make a difference.

Ordinarily I would disagree, however this has come to the point where the coaches and the AD's need to take a stand and demand better. I's not just this one game and because the calls in this one game went against LSU. It has become a national embarrassment and the refs are routinely effecting the outcome of major games with national championship ramifications. Slive wants everyone to shut up and take it up the rear. The only way to get change is to stand up and fight back. Right now the media is fighting the fight alone while the rape victims sit in SEC mandated silence.
